Good Day everyone.
I hope we all had a good Christmas?
Quick question. My Mk1 Eclipse is having difficulty with the internal (LG?) Music Player.
The sound files come in via the network over DNLA FLACs. No problem accessing, decoding, playing etc.
However, after 5 minutes or so, the LG screen saver comes on. I then have what seems to be the sound stops on the next track.
I use the Media Player in Folder mode as this is the only file ranking mode that will play an album in file order.
I am sure these issues were not all like this once and that perhaps a software update has unintended consequences.
Does anyone have knowledge where I can access Media Player setting to permanently change this?
Thanks

Carolpa: Mr 10Percent:My Mk1 Eclipse is having difficulty with the internal (LG?) Music Player.Do you have a specific reason why you use the LG Music player? Why not use the B&o app instead and stream the music directly to the Eclipse sound system.
The B&O app is as far as I am aware is control only. It controls the LG Media Player in the Eclipse.
Question is specific - even if I can think of a few ways other than the Media Player.
thanks

In the B&o settings software of the Eclipse you will find different streamers/players/sources.
The LG music player and the Music source of the Eclipse are two examples. The second one is controlled by the B&o app.
see
https://support.bang-olufsen.com/hc/en-us/articles/360052086012-Can-I-stream-music-to-my-Beovision-Eclipse-
the three mentioned for using the B&o app are TuneIn, Deezer and DLNA.
Actually it is quite confusing in both Beovisions.
Carolpa,
I’m not in a debate about Deezer, Spotify etc. read my original question. If you don’t know…fine. Leave it at that. I’m looking for answers to my original post.
DNLA is Data distribution format. It is not a media player. The LG media player is where I have a problem trying to identify the settings or what is causing a type of unwanted behaviour. I don’t use Spotify or Deezer which are pure online streamers. This post (has always eluded to explicitly) relates to my own FLAC files being played.
So again, do you know how to adjust the LG Media Player settings?
thank you

If you play music from your own local DLNA server, you are also streaming, thus also a media player. But that aside,........
What I questioned is WHY use the LG music player, if you can use the B&o build-in DLNA player controllable by the B&o app.
Open the app. Goto settings. Goto Music. Goto DLNA. Select the +. Add your DLNA server.
Select the "home icon". Select the Eclipse. Select the "music note icon". Select the music you want to play/stream.
Then you will use another player/streamer build in the Eclipse
I have the B&O app and I can punch through music from my DLNA music server to either the Eclipse or any of the 4 other devices I have without flaw.
I have an (almost) state of the art Auralic Streamer/DAC system I can punch though the same DLNA music served files to my BL90s via XLR and the Auralic app. I DONT HAVE A PROBLEM HERE!!
The question I pose is very specific regarding the settings and playback of the LG media player app. please understand this and don’t waste time on discussing topics that I don’t have issue with.
Good evening,
I own a Mk1 Eclipse and I use the built-in media player with a USB key regularly . For music, it will play all the tracks of a given directory even if the screen saver is activated (it is part of the design). However, it will not jump to another directory when all the files are played.
As a check, could you put the audio files in a USB key and play them to see if the problem is not caused by a corrupted file.
Good luck,
Jean
PS I will setup a DLNA server this week to check.
LG music player:
No settings (to be) found.
Only options to try:
1. set the player to full screen or set the screen off.
2. disable the screensaver (if possible, couldn't find it)
As promised, I setup a DLNA server using the Universal Media Server (open source) software on my Macbook Pro. By selecting Music on the Beoremote One, I started the audio media player and connected it to the server.
I selected a directory, clicked on the first audio file and let the media player plays all the files in sequence. Then the screen saver (fireworks) started after a few minutes. The playback continued across the various files without interruption, so there is no obvious bug in the media player.
I think the OP should check the following things (some already mentioned):
1. Ensure to start with the first file (or a file that is not near the end of the list).
2. Ensure that the network connection doesn't cut during playback
3. Check that all the files are valid by copying them to a USB key and playing them. Some codecs are not supported, for example Opus.
Good Evening all,
An update on the suggestions below and to give feedback to you all for entertainment purposes.
Firstly, as per the suggestions of Jveznia ,I thought this could be like a BeoSound 5 playback feature: play track 1 and the BS5 used to play the entire CD/album. Play a mid-track and it would go to MOTS after the first track rather than play the remainder of the Album. I summarized this may be similar with the Eclipse/LG Media Player. However, after 4 tracks in, the LG Media Player goes to pause again. Somehow. Appears to be 15minutes from interaction to pause?
A more descriptive comment will be posted shortly on some of the pros-cons to the various playback issues.
Keep trying.
OK, long post and as I stated previously – entertainment purposes only.
I have a great system that I'm very proud of. In many ways it works great and not so great. Pros and cons to each.
The B&O System
1. Beovision Eclipse Mk1 65
2. Beolab 90s Front – connected CAT7 PL
3. Beolab 3s rear – Connected via std PL cable
4. Couple of Essence Mk2s and an A6 downstairs in the bedrooms
Non-B&O Gear
1. Melco N1H 6tb Music Server. Plays/Stores FLAC 44.1khz-16bit or ripped CDs, DNLA compliant.
2. Melco S100 Data Switch – high quality galvanically insulated Data switch. Feeds all the B&O and 3rd party gear with CAT7 piped data.
3. Auralic G2 Stack. This is an Aries G2 Streamer, Leo Gx Clock, Sirius G2.1 Resampler and the Vega G2 DAC.
4. Auralic DAC supplies the Beolab 90s via a reasonably good XLR cable (+5m away)
5. The Auralic G2.x gear is all interconnected via re-purposed HDMI Cable (not HDMI format) to one another so they all talk together and share computational load (I guess like B&O once used to do)
6. There is other 3rd party gear – but not relevant to this post.
The following descriptions relate to control and playback of FLAC files via the different renderers and the controls they offer.
The Auralic G2 Stack to the BL90s
1. Melco Server distributes FLAC files via DNLA to the Auralic Stack
2. This is done via a dedicated iOS App which is about as good as I’ve seen. It has flaws but better than most.
3. Full album display and whatever Metadata you want or have stored.
4. Its is an end point for Roon and can deliver fully integrated Hi-Res music from Spotify Connect, Amazon Music/Unlimited, Tidal, Qobus and Hi- Res
5. Auralics App can be kept open indefinitely but the screen will close if left in the BeoApp.
6. Auralics App can be used by friends and family for open control.
7. Cant get album info displayed on the Eclipse or TV interaction which is best for parties etc…
8. Gapless/Psuedo-gapless playback.
9. Sound levels etc have to be controlled via the BeoApp or Essence Remote or fiddle with BR1 Modes
10. Turning the Auralics and the BL90s on/off is not integrated. Plus the BL90s do integrate with the Eclipse Powerlink protocol while receiving XLR signal or have yet to time-out.
11. This is the highest music quality available. Stunning. This is simply miles and miles better than the two further options below.
The Melco DNLA FLACs to the BeoApp Renderer
1. Melco Server distributes FLAC files via DNLA to I guess the Eclipse/BeoApp and then PL to the BL90s?
2. No Album display – only titles until you get to file level and albums are displayed. Full album display when playing (whoopee).
3. B&O system cannot natively stream Hi-Res file formats from online content providers. Deezer and Spotify. I don’t think B&O can do Spotify Connect? So future HiRes Spotify will be closed-off??
4. BeoApp closes on iPad time-out. Reopen via security checks (thumb/PIN etc…) Annoying
5. This limits use by friends and family for open control.
6. Cant get album info displayed on the Eclipse or TV interaction which is best for parties etc…
7. Not Gapless. The gap is very noticeable on continuous music but not as bad as the LG Music Player..
8. Sound levels can be controlled via the BeoApp or BR1 easily
9. Turning A/V modes is integrated.
10. This is the poorest music quality playback available. A real choker. Listening via the BeoApp to the Essence or A6, this is not so noticeable. On the BL90s…it is almost unlistenable and not good to show-off at parties with that sound.
The Melco DNLA FLACs to the LG Media Player
1. Melco Server distributes FLAC files via DNLA to I guess the Eclipse/LG Media Player and then PL to the BL90s?
2. Great album display on the TV – Good for guests and family to playback what they want visual references via the BR1 star buttons. Easy.
3. The LG Media Player now goes to screen saver mode after a few seconds of non-interaction. I am sure it never used to do this and wonder if an upgrade is doing something not desired. No apparent/easy way with toggle control
4. It also appears that the LG Media Player goes to pause after ~15minutes of non-interaction. Again, Im sure it never used to do this.
5. The BR1 and internal LG Media Player app are inside the Eclipse/SMART TV. No iPad or phone required.
6. Not Gapless. The gap is very noticeable on continuous music and is perhaps the worst option of all three playback modes.
7. Sound levels can be controlled via the BR1 easily
8. Turning A/V modes is integrated.
9. This is the second best music quality playback available. Probably slightly above the mean when the BeoApp playback and the Auralic/XLR/BL90 routing are classed a 0 and 10 respectively. Say 6 or 7 out of 10.
So there you have it. I don’t expect full B&O style integration between the Auralics and the BL90. Its very good – it can be better. Maybe if the BR1 could flash to the Eclipse the volume signal for XLR input – that would be great. Also some of the Threshold detect and time-outs could be tweeked but these are minor.
The real issues come with the LG Media Player (maybe B&O can control/have access to this command level?) and with the BeoApp being very poor in terms of its usability etc… I think the BeoApp and the method used to render to the PL outputs needs looking at as well.
