Hi all,
I have set up an Eclipse 65 with a pair of Beolab 5 which have been set up by a B&O - eveyrthing works perfect.
Now I really want to update to a home theater and I need more speakers and maybe get a subwoofer on this.
My idea is to deploy a pair of Beolab 3 equipped with Beolab receiver 1 and connect them over WISA to Eclipse. Does anybody have a similioar setup, how is the experience?
Now I need a subwoofer: choice is between Beolab 2 or 19-one is wired one is WISA capable.
Anything else I am forgetting, any advices on this set up?
Thanks
Michael
The BL3’s should work fine so - that is what the Receiver 1 is intended for.
With the BL5’s you really should not need a subwoofer.
Maybe (instead) invest in a second pair of BL3/Receiver 1 and set these up as rears in addition to the ‘new’ pair as surrounds………provided your room layout accounts for this.

There is a tv - and there is a BV

Your Beolab 2 or 19 would be sitting idling in the corner as the TrueImage processor will send all bass to the Beolab 5’s. See the latest tech. Sound guide to confirm this.

You don't need a sub if you have BL5's. Your Eclipse will redirect all bass towards the BL5s.
I connected BL6000 + Receiver 1 to my BV14. It just works. So connecting BL3 + Receiver 1 should be no problem at all and give you really good surround sound!

Thanks a lot guys for verifing this, that I shall do.
Obtaing another pair of BL3 and 4 Receivers...sucks they are nowhere available.

Get the Receiver 1's while you can.I had to wait 3 months on mine.
I am in Switzerland, they are not available by any B&O Dealer.
I have just installed 2 bl3 as the rear speakers. They are bearly noticable in the background-question with 2 additional bl3 will it be any benefit to the surround system?
As what did you set them up and did you level match them to your seating position? Also, what's the source you're using? With a stereo source they will obviously not do a heck of a lot, same for movies that aren't mixed much for rear channels/are dialogue heavy.
I did set them up as rear speakers, they play back right sounds also leveling was not an issue as b&o suggested.
No I don't think we're talking about the same thing. In the TV you can set DB levels, take out your phone with any DB meter app, turn the volume on the TV to what you usually listen at and make the output DB level between all speakers the same.
Also in a 5.1 setup your ''rear'' speakers should be set to surround.
To get the full effect of them use something like the trailer of 6 underground on Netflix and see if they give you the effects desired. There are a ton of settings you can change to tweak it, also make sure you're in the movie preset for sound.
Does that make sense?
The bl5 were already calibrated by the B&O. Do the bl3 also need to be calibrated same way?
I have an eclipse with 4x BL3 and a BL19 as sub and I like that set up very much. Very small footprint of the BL3 but still very capable.
I agree with others that no need for sub if you have the BL5. If you can find more BL3's go for them. I personally think they are extremely good value, certainly if you have the BL5 to take care of bass. BL3 are perfect surround speakers.
One of my BL3 just blew. I can't find a replacement yet. Any recommendations what I should replace them with with new line up of speakers? I would move the working BL3 as surround. What would you suggest for front? BL18 with the BL19 or BL28? Anything else?
The BL5 calibration is quite different than this and is also internal to the speakers.
For this you need to go in to the B&O settings of the tv, sound & beolink, speaker groups and then pick the speaker group you have the 3's active in and then select speaker level. Then you'll hear a white noise in the selected speakers, take out your phone with any DB app and turn the volume up to your normally used setting. in the speaker level menu adjust each speaker so they play at the same volume at your seating position.
This ensures that each speaker is at least producing the same sound level at your seating position and the requested volume level. Does that make more sense?
If you ask me I find bl20 extermely sexy. I saw them with grey covers they look awesome and cost third of the price of bl28.
