Hallo,
I am just coming back from a very disappointing call with my reseller.
The current situation
We have a BeoVision 7-40 MKV in our livingroom. The BeoVision has all modules availible that date and a bluray player built-in. We use it with a 5.1 setup and a projector for our cinema evenings.
We now want to completely replace that System (BeoVision + all speakers). And wanted to buy a new BeoVision as the center of the system like the old one.
The problem is that there is no real replacement? We have eben told that there is no BeoVision with the ability to control and send the picture to a projector as we are used to it. Really? There is no BeoVision with a picture out?
Are we stuck to our BV7 or is there a more modern TV availible? Thanks for your help.

Indeed your dealer is correct.
Absent a complicated workaround with Beosystem 3 or 4s (the previous generation of AV processor), you'll need a 3rd party piece of equipment (AV receiver etc).

Actually this happened before the LG tv’s as the videopart came into play.
It started with the introduction of Beosystem 4 as motor for the BV12, with the V1, the BV11 etc….now almost 10 tears ago.
As Sandyb mentioned - there are people who use the BSys4 or the previous BSys3 as the motor with a projection setup.
But you must be aware, that these systems only support up to 2K/FullHD….if that is important.
There are also solutions where the sound gets routed to the system and the (external) videosources to a projector.
However, nowadays with the bigger and bigger screens - currently up to 83” - there is not much need for a projector……unless you want to built a dedicated home cinema.
By the way - there is absolutely no need to replace excisting speakers……all Beolab speakers can be used with the new tv solutions, that are based upon the LG tv’s and a B&O Sound Center.

There is a tv - and there is a BV
So as far as I understand if we want to keep our TV and projector setup we have to use a BeoSystem 3 or BeoSystem 4, right?
The reason why we want to keep that combination is that we want to have a small TV for daily use and a big screen for cinematic evenings. We have a projector lift in the ceiling and automated screen with 120" and that will always be way beyond we can go with a normal TV.
A few questions that come to my mind.
Thanks for your help. I know it is a lot of questions but it seems our setup and needs are not "normal".
There are a couple of threads on using LGs / other OLEDS with a Beosystem - some of them go into detail, and there are certainly a few that have made this kind of setup work.
Basically involves some piece of kit to split the audio and video outputs from your sources - send the audio to the Beosystem and video to your displays.
Getting the BR1 to control everything I think can also be done - but that requires a bit of a hacky solution.
The simpler solution is to get an AV processor, one with outputs for a TV and projector. That means no BR1 for control - you need a B&O brain somewhere to facilitate that, and the LG app on current LG OLEDs need a modern B&O brain (Stage, Eclipse, Harmony) to allow a BR1 to control the TV. The LG TVs B&O app will not recognise a BS3 / 4.
The AV processor route is worth thinking about - yes no BR1 control, but a new TV will have most apps you need. Depends on how many sources you will want to maintain really. Many AV processor remotes are a bit nicer than the LG TV remote, and will control the LG and its apps. May be enough for you, and avoids sending you down the road of a complicated (to install) setup.

A few questions that come to my mind. we have an old BeoSystem 3 (9600) fully equiped somewhere in the garage. Would this be good to start? what is the great advantage of a BS4 compared to a BS3? Only NL or does it have 7.1 and more supported audio formats? can we control for example a LG C1 through the BeoSystem? Where do we connect the sources to? BeoSystem or the new TV? can we use the built in AppleTV and Apps in modern TVs? I suppose we then can't use the projector right? We want to use BoLabs for front left and right and in-ceiling speakers for center and rear left and right, any recommendations? what do we need for in-ceiling? speakers and a Amp? which speakers would you recommend for front if the space is limited? BL18, BL20, BL9? Thanks for your help. I know it is a lot of questions but it seems our setup and needs are not "normal".
Alternative to Beosystem 3/4
Beo4/BR1 control via Lintronic
Requires soldering skills or a number of RCA->Powerlink cables from Steve with trigger feature.

This allows you to buy 'best-of-breed' for every single component. (Speakers, AV processor, Monitor, Projector etc)

Thanks for all of your help.
In my understanding there is one reason to go with a BeoSystem 3/4 instead of a Cinema preamp from a different manufacturer. We need the simple solution to select List-> cinema and the TV goes off and projector switches on.
we have not a single 4K source here. We have an Apple TV HD and no pay TV. Our only to program is ARTE HD 😂
we want to keep everything as simple as possible but want to change the TV to 55” 😉
Beovision 7-55 :-)
Ravsted: Beovision 7-55 :-)
It really looks like this is an alternative although a used BV7-55 is more expensive than a LG OLED plus BS3 as we have a BS3 not in use here somewhere.
Sad that there is no real replacement in 2022.
MM makes some very good points. I used to use my projector in a B&O CINEMA mode all the time before larger tv screens become mainstream. Now, I have a 75 inch tv screen with a BeoSystem 4 with a projector as the second video output. You need a special Atlona splitter to make this work. I've found that now with a 75" tv that I never use my projector with a 100" screen. The tv is brighter and has a better picture. Also, there is no need to worry about keeping out light. I just don't miss the projector.
However, if your concern is keeping the tv presence small in the room, I can understand your desire to have a projector. There was a time when I had no tv in the room and just had a motorized screen that retracted to have a large piece of art on the wall. I liked the elegance of not having a tv being so prominent in the room.
If you still want to keep the projector solution, get the BSys3 going.
No big investment needed there - other than some cables the right ir-eye, an ir-blaster for the projector (if not already there).
You’ll need to have the System updatet with the newest Apple PUC etc by a B&O dealer.
Could suit you well the next couple of years….untill you might go for a big B&O tv solution For the ‘small tv solution’ get a recent LG tv, a BS Stage and the Beoremote one.
Keep them seperate.
Trying to establish a ‘B&O Cinema Mode solution’ nowadays will not be worth the efford, if you look for simplicity…..unless you decide for a BV7-55 as a direct replacement.
I jaust had a 2h talk with my wife and what we plan with our Homecinema. We now decided to have a look for a BV7-55 and change speakers to built in in-ceiling ones.
The rest will stay the same. We then will have a look in a few years if we can replace the projector with a bigger screen.
Thsnks for all of your help.

No Homecinema without a sub!
Please don’t let your wife let you ditch the BL2
The BL2 will stay to be honest she asked if we could add a second one ;-)
