Hello,
I am considering an investment in a new Panasonic Plasma TV, namely this one:
http://www.panasonic.se/html/sv_SE/Produkter/Viera+TV/NeoPlasma+TV/TX-P50VT50Y/manuals/9424022/index.html?trackInfo=true
As I would like to control it with my Beo5 I was wondering if someone has experience from Panasonic Plasmas (I would like to create an XML, not use Lintronic).
I found the following file containing some IR codes from the Pronto but I do not know if they would work or even can be converted to a proper format for the Beo5:
ftp://ftp.panasonic.com/pub/panasonic/Drivers/Monitors/Discrete-remote-control-codesProntoCCFformat.pdf
Any help would be appreciated!
Best regards,
Martin
My B&O products: Beosound 9000, Beosound 2300, Beosound Century, Beolab 8000, Beolab 6000, Beolab 4000 x2, Beolab 3500, Beolab 2000, Beolab 10, Beolink Active x2, Beotime, Beo5 x2, Beo4, A9 keyring x2, LC2 dimmer x6 and growing....
Found this xml made by Keith - works like a charm!

The Panasonic VT50 is a very good choice. It comes very close to the B&O TVs in picture quality, but not in sound. The picture is amazing, but the sound is one of the worst I've ever heard.
I own the 65 inch VT50 model and I connected it to my BS9000, Beolab 6000 & BL11 setup to get decent sound.
Will post some pictures in the "Flash your B&O thread" if all cables from soundsheavenly arrived and everything is connected the way I want it.
I use a Beo4 and a lintronic box to control everything
BeoSound 9000 MK3, BeoLab 8000, BeoLab 6000, BeoLab 3500, LCS9000, BeoLab 11, BeoLab 7.2, BeoLab 7.1, Beolab 4 PC, BeoCenter 2300, BeoSound Century, BeoSound 8, Beosound 2, BeoVision 7-40 MK2 , BeoVision 7-32 MK3, BeoVision 6-22, BeoVision 4-42, BeoMedia 1, BeoCom 4, BeoLink 1000, BeoLink 5, BeoLink 4 & BeoTime
Yes, the picture is brilliant but as you say, neither I was impressed by the speakers.
That's why I run the sound through two BL4000 as centre speakers, two BL8000 as fronts and two BL6000 as rears (and a noname sub) :)
(and of course, Steve on Soundsheavenly is my cable provider)
Hi rivenflush. I have a Panasonic tv and a beo5 I also have the config tool on disk. How would I add this XML file? Any help would be appreciated greatly as one less remote is always a bonus. Is there one for sky tv by any chance? I also noticed in the flash your b and o thread that you had pictures for your zones. How do you do that? Have added them or are they hidden somewhere in the settings?
Thank you in advance
If you install the configuration tool, it's easy to add the Panasonic xml. Download the file and the go into the Beo5 config tool directory and you will find a folder called "Thirdparty.." and add the file to one of its subfolders. (just be sure to rename the extension from .txt to .xml).
Then just open the tool and add the Panasonic xml to your configuration. Detailed instructions can be found on the Wiki page on this site.
The pictures are custom made and I had to manually edit the configuration.xml file to add them. I have been thinking of writing a guide for it when I find some time.
BTW, funny that everyone is named Martin in this thread :)
I use the VT30 and have an XML to control it.
Please find attached a zip contrainig two XMLs. One to use VT30 as source button in a BEO5/6 config and another one to use on scene screen within a zone.

Considering a 65vt50 these times, I was wondering how do you make the connections for sound between the Panasonic and the Beolabs?
I don't think you can hook the Panasonic directly to a Beolab without something inbetween to control volume. The Panasonic has fixed RCA audio outs, not variable, unfortunately I haven't seen variable outs on a TV set for years. The last one I had which had these was a 31 inch Proton I used with a set of Proton amplified speakers.
I have the 65VT50, and am quite impressed with it, but I use a non-B&O AV receiver for video sound, and the B&O only for stereo music duty.

I'm afraid I'm recovering from the BeoVirus.
I have a non B&O receiver inbetween and the Beolabs are connect to the pre-outs.
I use the AV1 scart plug of the vt50 to get a fixed line level audio output that I feed directly into the A.Aux input of my BS9000.
The cables for this are selfmade, as you won't find scart to rj45 anywhere.
I know I'm responding to an old post but I am considering a similar setup as yours (i.e. B&O speakers - non-B&O TV). I currently have pairs of beolab 4000, beolab 8000, and Penta MKIII speakers, Velodyne HGS12 subwoofer, and beosound 9000 MKII. Would like to use Pentas as rears, Beolab 8000 as fronts, and beolab 4000 as center and Velodyne HGS12 subwoofer. Not sure whether I'm going to continue using the beosound 9000 - more on that later.
I plan on having individual cables from the receiver to each of the front and rear speakers (with the exception of the center speakers which I'll daisy-chain). Is their an adapter from beolink to RCA connection or will I need to buy entirely new cable?
My main concern is the receiver. I'm anticipating having a non-B&O receiver for 5.1 surround but trying to figure out what receiver to purchase. My main objective is to optimize the speakers and the surround sound capabilities. What receiver did you use? I'm a neophyte with A/V issues so any suggestions/concerns are appreciated.
Also, I'm trying to decide the fate of the Beosound 9000. As you've done, I would consider tying it to the receiver as an input but I am not sure whether it's worth the effort. I rarely listen to CDs anymore. I'm more likely to stream music (i.e. I'd get a receiver that I can stream from other sources). Any thoughts on how you use your Beosound 9000 and whether there is any functionality that I'm not considering?
All comments greatly appreciated!

Hi Kjoak,
I have a Yamaha RX-V773 receiver which I am still very happy with. It has now gone out of production but I guess you could find its successor. What is important is that the receiver has pre-outs (at least 5.1) and a 12v trigger output (which is required to turn on the speakers). The Yamaha also has "Network standby" which means that it automatically turns on when streamed to (it has in-built airplay). It does not have wifi so you either have to connect a cable or as me an Airport Express or similar.
Regarding cables, I found adapters on AV Connection in Denmark (google it), which had a powerlink female in one end and then RCA + trigger males (3.5 mm jack) in the other. They are 20 cm long and then you connect regular Powerlink cables to the speakers. As you need to connect several trigger jacks to the same 12v output on the receiver you need a splitter. It is the same kind of splitter you use to share headphones to e.g. An iphone and that can be found on ebay for like 1-3 GBP.
If your beosound has digital output it is easy to connect it to the receiver, else you will need a special cable that you can get from Soundsheavenly.
Since I wrote thos we have moved to a house and have teo small kids so most of my gear is now tucked away in a lounge room which currently is a total mess. However, in the living room I have the Panasonic TV with two Beolab 4000s connected to the Yamaha receiver - and last week I bought a wall bracket to my Beosound 2300 as I am planning to add that to the setup. I seldom listened to CDs but when I did I really enjoyed it and I also like the iconic design of the Beosounds from that era - the 9000 is fantastic and my future plan is to have that in the living room but now it is on a safe distance from the kids...
Hope this helps, do not hesitate to ask
