Newbie here with some existential issues.....

I have a Beosound 9000 and a very large CD collection. I want to be able to play CDs and stream them (wifi) into the rest of the house. I already have a Beoplay 9 speaker, and plan on adding others. 

Once this setup is working, I would like to add an external drive with lots of music files on it, to be able to stream all over the house too.  

So far, all the information I've found is to add music streaming to the BS9000, but nothing about streaming cd music out of the BS9000, into the rest of the house....

You need an NL/ML Converter to achieve this :)

With regard to your external drive, If you opt for a DLNA NAS drive then you’ll be able to see your media within the B&O app

Using the B&O app you can access your music files on a DLNA server and stream them to the speakers you select. 

As far as I know you can stream CDs from the Beosound 9000 to the A9 within the B&O app. The Beosound will be a source which can be selected on the A9 . All devices need to be connected however through powerlink. Can't be done only on wifi as far as I know.

Please can you confirm if you have a Beoplay A9 or Beolab 9? Having a BS9000 to me means a) you are sending the BS9000 signal to A9 Line-in, b) sending BS9000 signal via Powerlink to Beolab 9 or c) you have a ML/NL converter from the BS9000 to the Beoplay A9?

 

If you have a DNLA compatible NAS, you can mount this drive anywhere and connect to your home network. The Beoapp will Autodetect this (you have to select the drive initially) and play through the Beoplay A9

If you have the BS9000 and a Beolab 9, then I think IIRC you need a NL/ML converter connected to your network (and hence the DNLA NAS) and you can then use the NMusic function with later (MK2/3 BS9000) can recognise. I think a MK1 BS9000 cant do this?)

Im very rusty on some of these transitional legacy products integrating with 1st GEN non-B&O DNLA NAS's and what current machines can now do.

Confusing...... the BLC is needed/can be used to play CD's to the A9's. To stream it is more obvious to start with the A9's.

Add, as said a DLNA music server to ones network. Rip the CD's to the desired format, add the correct tags, scan the DLNA server forr these files. Setup the A9's once to connect to the DLNA music server and you'r fine to listen to stored music.

 

then add a BLC to connect the BS9000 to play the same music.

My advice: get a Beoplay M3 (maybe second hand) - set that up for your network using the B&O app - configure the Volume levet with a start up volume at 0 - connect the Aux-out of the 9000 to the line-in port on the M3 - hide the M3 (if you don’t want to see it/use it otherweise) - play from the 9000 and Join in from your A9.

N.B. For the right cable you might ask Steve Sounds Heavenly, if needed.

This will work (I do the same with a turntable connected to a M3). However, the best, the smoothest option would (as already mentioned) be to use a NL/ML Converter in order to make the BS9000 a part of your (growing) NL setup.

I have been through this recently.

I started by connecting my BS9000 to my A9 via Line in. This worked well, but could not multi room around the house.

I now have a core connected to the BS9000 and then wireless to either the A9 or one of my other products. The multi room works well and the only issue I have is that when I start a cd it doesn’t trigger the core (mk 1) and I have to use the app to start the A9 up. I haven’t tried a converter so not sure how well that works.

That is odd.

All devices should have line-sense (= start up, when signal arrives).

On my M3 it works as should be.
