Beosound essence mono with one Beolab 3

I am planning to use a Beosound Essence (hidden) with a single Beolab 3 in a small room. Does any one know if it is sufficient to add the L and R with two 1k resistors to have a mono signal - or is more serious circuit needed. Is it best to add the L and R signal at the Beosound end or at the speaker end?
