Hi,

in a separate room is a ML-Setup with the following components:
- Beosystem 3 MK3
- Beosound 9000 MK3
- Beosound 5
- MLGW

This room should now be brought into the NL Word and software control. For testing I'm gonna use a spare M3 speaker to avoid stress with the family until everything is ready to be expaned into the house. ;-)

Can I connect the complete room to just 1 NL/ML converter and what will happen with commands from the MLGW? Or do I need 1 NL/ML converter for each product except the MLGW which I assume will be out of business or can it live in peace with the other equipment, too?

Will it be possible to get Tune-in radio from a NL source like the M3 into the ML world with the Radio command on the Beo 4 without having Beosound 9000 and Beosound 5 switching on their Radio and N.Radio functions?

Hi!

The MLGW is only there for Home Automation and control with the Beolink app. The BeoLink Converter NL/ML, although similar in looks does not offer the same features.

In most cases you only need 1 Beolink converter to connect a ML setup to a NL setup, however there's an obstacle with your setup: It has 1 VideoMaster (the Beosystem), 1 AudioMaster (the Beosound 9000) and one SourceCenter (Beosound 5).

A Beolink Converter can be setup as VideoMaster, AudioMaster, SourceCenter or Slave. The problem is you can only have one of these per ML setup so, you'd b forced to configure yours as Slave, therefore you'd not be able access NL sources on your ML setup.

You could possibly set your TV as Slave, and set the Beolink Converter as VideoMaster. You'd then be able to access NL sources on your ML setup but you wouldn't be able to listen to any of the TV source on any of the NL devices - which I think is an OK compromise.

You'd access sources like Tune-in buy using a Video source key, preceded by "AV", like "AV-DVD" or "AV-V.MEM" for example, so it won't interfere with N.MUSIC or N.RADIO.

you are confusing the MLGW with the BLGW.

You can have more BLC connected to NL which have the same settings (f.e. I have 4 setup as ASlave)

If you want to use a standard remote (not the Halo) in NL you are limited in the number of sources (Cd can only be once given to a ML/NL source)

Thanks you for your input.

So I can build 2 scenarios:

1.) simply connect the room to 1 BLC converter.
- What functions will than be available via B&O app on phone / tablet?
- Which sources are available from NL in the ML room via Beo 4/5?
- Can the MLGW stay connected in its Masterlink world and all its functions will still work in the ML room?

2.) connect 3 BLC converters to the 3 ML products. MLGW will be sorted out.
- What functions will be availabe on B&O app on phone / tablet?
- Which sources are available from NL in the ML room and vice versa?

HALO remotes are a later option, too, to get rid of the phones for control.

With 1 Converter:

TWG:
- What functions will than be available via B&O app on phone / tablet?

Start and stop of all ML sources accessible to the TV (that is all of them). Cannot change CD on BS9000. Only simple commands like Previous/Next/Play/Pause/Volume up/down.

TWG:
- Which sources are available from NL in the ML room via Beo 4/5?

If you set the Beovision as Slave and the Beolink Converter as VideoMaster, you access 9 NL sources on your ML using LINK-AV + TV, DTV, DTV2, V.MEM, DVD, DVD2, CAMERA,V.AUX2 or PC. If you keep your Beovision as VideoMaster and the Beolink Converter as slave you cannot access NL sources on ML.

TWG:
- Can the MLGW stay connected in its Masterlink world and all its functions will still work in the ML room?

The MLGW with the latest software also supports NL devices through the Beolink Converter.

TWG:
2.) connect 3 BLC converters to the 3 ML products. MLGW will be sorted out.

I don't think you would get rid of your MLGW? The B&O app does not offer a good enough control for any of your ML devices. You can only access the following commands: Previous/Next/Play/Pause/Volume Up/Volume Down. You'll still prefer using the Beolink or Beoliving app.

TWG:
- What functions will be availabe on B&O app on phone / tablet?

Though the B&O app, for ML sources: Previous/Next/Play/Pause/Volume Up/Volume Down. No colour keys, number keys, stand or speaker control. Cannot choose CD on BS9000, etc...

TWG:
- Which sources are available from NL in the ML room and vice versa?

I think you'll be able to access anything anywhere - Assuming all the speakers are connected to the Beovision in your ML room, the only thing you'd get is the ability to stream your Beovision sources, like the TV sound to your NL devices. You'd also gain the possibility to access multiple ML sources at once, for example, you could get the CD sound onto a Balance, the TV sound onto a A9 and the Beosound 5 onto a beosound 2, all simultaneously.
