hello everyone,
I'm considering buying some table stands for my Beolab 4000's but ones advertised at the moment are very expensive for what appears to be simple plastic bases set at an angle - are they a bit more robust than they look in the photos?
I had my pair wall vertically wall mounted at head height either side of my window but since i had to add a dual monitor setup for my work they had to be turned horizontally and moved much higher on the wall and I don’t think they look very good that way.
Since i am going to have to patch up the wall before wallpapering i think now is the time to consider changing the location.
Would the speakers perform as well on the table stands as they do on the wall? The location would be on an oak cabinet to the right of my desk and placed either side of a Beocenter 8500 (i haven't purchased the cabinet yet)
My other option is to put them on small rubber feet and place them on the bookcase to the left of my desk alongside the Beomaster 1900 but in this layout it would be difficult to hide the cables.
i've uploaded a photo to show the layout of the room at the moment.
Beocenter 8500 / Beolab 4000 / Beosystem 5500 / Beolab 8000 / Beogram 2000 / Beosound 8 / Beovision 6-26 / Beovision MX4000 / Beomaster 1900-1 / Beovox CX50 / Beoplay H4 / Beoplay A1 / Beocom 1401 x2
the photo above is a panorama and is stretched/distorted to fit everything in so doesn't really give a good impression unfortunately, the speakers are about a foot higher than my head at the moment and angled downwards slightly. the room is 4m wide by 3.5m deep
That is a touch one, without knowing more about how you use the speakers or if the are used generally in the room as well.
Do you use them for sound from your Mac or just from the Beosystem?
As for the rubber feet (original from B&O) - they work well are stable and surely do their job (I have a set in use myself).
They might seem a bit ‘platicy’ and cheap - no idea how much the would cost nowadays - but I never think about them, they are there and does the job.

I use the table stands with my BL4000s. I bought them new for about €40 at the same time that I purchased my speakers. They are certainly substantial enough to hold the speakers firmly at the slightly tilted back angle - it matches the tilt angle of the BC2300/Ouverture series and I have used them with that in the past. They have rubber feet and additional rubber pads to protect the base of the speaker. They also hide the cables well.
Here's a photo of my current setup on a wooden bookcase.
But if it's the ones for sale at £145 I don't think they are worth that much!!!
"You think we can slap some oak on this thing?"

But these are a better price: https://www.dba.dk/hoejttaler-bang-olufsen/id-1087483461/

In that case ( = background listening) it is the question, if a relocation would be worth it.
The question: ‘Would the speakers perform as well on the table stands as they do on the wall?’ is imposible to answer….before trying it out.
It will much more be the other location, that could make a difference, not the stands.
However, if you are up for a change, why not do it - it certainly won’t be worse (= less good) than now.
hi Leo and thanks for the offer - i didn't know those ones existed! I think i prefer the speakers in the vertical orientation or i'd have been happy to swap.
rather disappointingly the seller is not able to ship them. back to the drawing board unfortunately!
Hi,
I have 3D printed my own. They are just squeezed into the grooves on the back of the speaker. Which groove you choose will adjust the angle.
So I guess they cost me 1 $ 😂
Regards.

B&O used to make an alternative stand, it vertical positioning was wanted:

Should be pretty easy to DIY, if you can’t find those.

When I got BL4000 to go along with an Ouverture I did had hard time finding table stands at descent price.I ended up DIY'ing a pair from a storage box from ikea.(To keep it nordic), It's quite easy if you have steady hand and a good knife and fairly cheap. You can find the thread on this searching by my nickname. Result was acceptable enough to wait for a pair I finally found for around 40€ IIRC.

thanks everyone for your input in this.
I think you have convinced me to give the table stands a try - a very kind Beoworld member has offered me a pair that he no longer needed so i will report back on how i get on with that and hopefully have some finished pictures to share on the 'flash your B&O' thread once its all set up.
I like that ikea hack idea! i need to make a trip up to my local store in the coming weeks so will keep an eye out for the storage tubs as a plan B.
