I've made an offered on set of beolap 5.
I went to see/hear them and the owner couldn't play them for more than 5-6 minutes. I've been reading about the issue, and apparently they need a master code. Should the owner provide them for me and why hasn't he unlocked them ? Could they be stolen ? I'm suspecting he's lying. What should I do ?
That indeed is a bit suspicious!
I would never buy a set of the BL5’s (or any of the other pin-coded products from B&O) without having the PIN at hand respectively without having the 5’s play for more than those 5-6 minutes.
You could ask the seller for the serial numbers of the speakers - and then let an official B&O dealer look them up.
(If you are located in Denmark there might be an option to ask at a register of stolen things, that the police offers - at least it used to be so).
If he/she won’t hand the serial numbers out, you pretty much know, that you should let go of them….no matter how tempting that might be
Alternatively let him/her get the Master Code to unlock them and let you choose the new PIN code.
