The left side arrow light does not come on when trying to tune in a station, the right side comes on ,bright, but it will not go off when searching for other stations, any idea what the problem might be?

Maybe a burnt lamp?
You could measure the voltage over the legs of the lamp.
Often the thin wires of the lamps are broken, sometimes hard to see.
