Hi all
I have recently restored my two 2500 systems, new drive belts, bluetooth modules on the AUX line and recovered speaker frets. New CR2450 3volt backup batteries were also fitted.
Ladies stockings (new ones!) were used to recover the Beolab 2500 and i think they look pretty good! :)
A pair of stockings for each pair of speakers, go for a heavy ones so you will be looking at 80-100 Denier thick.
Cut the feet and bum off and slide the stocking over the old fret.
Make sure there are no wrinkles..
Double sided sticky tape at the ends on the back side, fold over and remove excess material at the ends leaving the stocking at the front and back
Tadaaaa..
And the other one in a funky Lime green!
Funky, yes.But speaker cloth is not any old material.I really would recommend to use acoustically transparent cloth. Something meant for this purpose. And remove the old first. The sound, and particularly the treble details, will have a hard time travelling through both the original cloth and the two new layers.
