I'm listening to Kate Bush on my Beocord 9000 cassette deck, recorded on a TDK SA.
What a deck!
Piano is so stable! Even my Nak with its dual-capstan, DD transport does not do better.
I was lucky enough to find a mint one, with a few problems of course, but what would the fun be otherwise eh?

A super machine sir!! Your's appears to be a particularly good example too!
The auto calibration employed in these machines ensured optimised recording with all tape types.The machine was B&O's ultimate effort with cassette tape,before moving on to cd.
We sold loads of these at knock down prices when B&O decided to clear stock of them.
Allway's a joy to repair and more importantly-use!
I notice that your's still has it's original Panasonic capstan motor,which probably contributes to the speed stability,the replacements were not as good!!

The Jarman book recommends the BC8004 over the BC9000. Anyone care to comment? I have no experience with any of the decks in that series.
Yes, Tim has always recommended the Beocord 8004 over the 9000.
I believe this is because it is less complex, and has no self-calibrating gadgetry, which, according to him, was made obsolete by the then new IEC norm.
The newer Beocords were IEC calibrated, which meant that any recent cassette could be used without worrying (too much) about performance!
That said, the 9000 is very easy to set properly!
I have not tried the BC8004 yet and I don't think I ever will.
No I stick with my white, recently serviced by Dillen, BC9000. I also have the BC6000 and BC5500 but the 9000 takes all kinds of tapes which I got and produce the best recorded results regardless of the tape itself.
I was very happy with my former rosewood BC9000 too. As I prefer white I sold it on but realized that as far as getting a Beocord 8000 series it should be the 9000 once more due to the many tapes I got and the recording system it has.
Actually the one I got now was the second white one I found but the first one was not original white. Anyway someon had put the wrong belts on it and nearly killed the motor in that process. Dillen managed to save it and did some new kind of work for the fast forward and rewind so it does that rather quickly for a Beocord from that serie which is very nice.

Tell us more please Martin, although mine fast forwards and rewinds correctly!
