My Beo 8000 has the typical problems associated with aging power supply caps. It also drops the tone arm just a little too quickly.

I've got the circuit card out and have the three power supply electrolytics on my next Mouser order. I'm planning on replacing the 2200uf 40v cap with the center pin and metal can with a Nichicon PS low impedance cap. Has anyone any strong opinions on this application?  I a little curious why the metal can cap was used, other that that it might be very low ESR.

Are there other passive components that need to be replaced while I'm into it?

I also want to correct the fast drop issue. Is that an RC network issue?

thanks
