Dear members,

I got a question that is probably tough to answer without pictures. I have a setup of an Avant and two Pentas as Front speakers. Additionally I want to use Beolab 5000s as rears and I'm wondering what is the best way to place them on the wall for purely cosmetical reasons.

The wall has a width of 330cms and I want to place a picture between the two speakers that is 1m high and 1 meter in width. So a first guess would be to  make it 35cms plain - Left speaker - 35cms plain - Picture - 35cms plain - Right speaker - 35cms plain.

I know, a picture would be helpful and it's sort of a strange question, but the positioning of the speakers really needs some careful thought. Once in place, they won't be moved for a long time...

Thanks for any thoughts on this issue. How would you proceed in general?

Rgds,

Kai

It seems that the picture will be hanging right in the middle!?

Make a paper-model of the BL5000 and pin it on the wall to see how it looks.

Greetings Millemissen

There is a tv - and there is a BV

Thanks Millemissen. That sounds like a good idea. I'll give it a try. Unfortunately my living room is not really well-suited for surround sound. Therefore, I'll have the Pentas as fronts and the Beolab 5000s sort of left of me with littel distance. Accoutically that's probably far from optimal, but I see no other soluation.

Rgds,

Kai

That's houses for you ! I am guessing you have the 5000's all ready but do consider the Bl 4000's as they can be mounted high and angled down to your sitting position. They are a very versatile speaker for placement. I use 4x bl4000 for surround sound with my Avant .

Yes, but for purely cosmetical reasons, you can't compare the 4000s and the 5000s. Problem is that in my living room the TV is positioned at the top end in the middle and seats are deeper in the living room but positioned to the right and to the left wall so that you are not sitting right in front of the TV. I'm not sure what a good solution from an accoustic point of view really is. But it's also hard to tell for anybody else when not standing in the living room - no matter how expert he or she may be. Generally speaking: what are good vintage surround speakers from BuO from your point of view?

Kai
