Hi there,
I have just bought some Beolab 6002 speakers to go with my Samsung Le37b550a5w.
To be honest I'm no use with technical stuff, but the manual is woefully disappointing! I have tried to plug in the Power Link cable into the TV (Audio out), then switching to External speakers on the TV - But I get nothing to work! I think I may need to change the to variable output, but I have no idea how to do this... can anyone help?!
I then also don't understand how to link up the two speakers, because the PowerLink cable will come out of the TV, into speaker 1 - But then how do you plug in speaker 2?!
Thanks!
I think you need to use different cables. You need a RCA to 5 pin DIN cable. I take it that you bought these second hand? If new, your dealer should really have provided these for you. You set the switch on the base to LINE.
If using powerlink (only used if connecting to B&O equipment) the two speakers will connect to each other via a second cable run from the first one to the second. Powerlink cables carry both right and left signals and one selects which one wants on the speaker.

Right, thanks. It's new from a dealer - I think the cables are wrong too. I think I need a 7 pin though, that's what the ones I have are?
In that case, I would have thought to connect the 2 speakers together I will also need a 7 pin to 7 pin (which I also don't have).
To connect to a non B&O system, 5 pins should be all you need. However I suggest you contact your dealer tomorrow. Look at page 6 of your user manual.
"Audio Out" sockets on a tv usually provide a fixed output, and if this is the case with the Samsung tv, then there would be no way of controlling the volume of the Beolabs. A crude method would be to use the headphone output if the tv has one, but I don't think it would do justice to the Beolabs!
Neil.
Yes that's essentially the stage I'm at now - I have got it working, but when the speakers are on it's so loud I can't leave it on! I press mute or change the volume and it doesn't do anything.
I'm now getting a lead to go into the headphone socket, hopefully that will sort it, but won't it still be far too loud then too? I'm not sure it'll make a difference or not - At least when I press mute, it will turn off, but as soon as i press volume up to 1 I think it might be deafening again?
STOP everything!
Now would be a good time to investigate your TV's outputs. There is likely a menu option that will convert the TV's audio outputs from fixed to variable.
The headphone socket will work but won't provide the best in terms of sound quality.
The proper alternative here is to utilize an external preamplifier.
Beo4 'til I die!
Haha. This is the problem though, there is no option on the Samsung for a variable output! Samsung are bad for it (apparently)

If I had bought brand new 6002's from a Dealer and had explained my intended use, my first point of call would be back to the franchised shop! The correct advice in my view has been given, purchase an amp with pre-outs and use your 6002's in LINE mode. Good Luck!
