Hi All,
I have a beovision 5 SD which goes black every few seconds changing the picture format slightly. It's a bit annoying. I read a while ago that it could be to do with the scart lead connections (I think) but I can't find any info now. It happens whether viewing sky or a DVD. The question is can it be fixed?
Thanks,
Paul
Just had the same " pain" with my bv3 , try the scart i.e get a good quality lead and it should do the trick it work for the bv3
ta :-)
Beovision 7 40 mk 5 ,beovision 6x3, beosound 3000, beogram 3300 , 2 x lc2, 2 x beocom 1401, beocom 6000 x 2, 5 x beo4,
, 4 x beolab 4's, form 2, h2, a2,a1 and a beolab 2 😀😀
Thanks for the info. I am using quite good scart leads- gold ends- monster I think. They're not the bog standard anyway, so not sure beyond that what to do!
The saga goes on. Changed the lead and all was fine for about a month. Then it started happening again. So I tried the first scart lead and surprisingly it was fine.....for about a month.
Anyway it's now happening whichever lead I use. I'm loosing patience now. Anyone have any ideas? I'm sure I remember reading something about a specific pin on the scart that may cause the problem.
Any help would be really, really appreciated.
Silversmith..You posted it works for about a month with both scart leads,so the leads do not need replacing! Keep an eye on the scart lead moving out/away from the socket on the tv over time..Can be due to the weight of the scart lead ( like a Monster Lead) Also the Stretch or Pull on the scart lead from the tv to the other connected equipment if pulled to tight with no slack!
Has been knowen to happen but not noticed!
Hope this helps???
I guess someone wipes the floor on the back of the tv once a month...

ROFL! I sense a cleaning mode error! But hey, once a month is way more often than I dust behind my gear!

I'm afraid I'm recovering from the BeoVirus.
Thanks for the suggestions. I've checked the connection to make sure it's pushed in firmly and it is. The problem still continues. Essentially it seems to be switching between format 1 and 3 sometimes every 5 seconds. The sound does not alter just the picture.
Not sure where to go from here?
Thanks everyone.
I think I may have solved the problem. It seems the issue lay with how the sky box was connected to the TV. I switched to the AV channel and now the problem has disappeared.

was a help and pointed me towards the scart control function on the sky settings menus. I did play around with this but it didn't seem to be the problem. So the connections seem to be really significant to how the TV functions.
Thanks for the help.
Latest update. The only solution that seems to work is to restart the tv - turn it off from the wall socket. It's been fine now for a month.
Fingers crossed.
No luck with restarting. I've double checked the connection of the leads both on the back of the TV and at the sky box and all seem fine. I was reading on the archive about pin 8. The suggestion was to connect pin 8 to ground. I take it this is the metal surround of the lead? I can't disassemble my cables as the sleeve around the scart is sealed so doing that isn't possible.
I've also seem some scarts listed as all pins connected or something like that. Would it be worth getting one of those instead?
I'm running out of patience. The only thing I haven't tried is a different sky+ box.
Thanks for the suggestions.
