Hi friends!I just wanted to show you this from Philips. Quite a beautiful design I think. Perhaps they should have worked more on a front speaker design but I am not sure how it sounds or how it works. The design however is very interesting, it truly blends into the space. And also it reminds me about the shape and design of B&O-sets. It just is much less in a way.Check it out here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=bDL0xwe1IRg#!

I'm afraid I'm recovering from the BeoVirus.

One thing I do note from the comments "@RasmusLauridsen you do know that Philips owns B&O right????". LOL.
I do like the design of this TV, but would be keen to hear how they drive audio performance from, effectively, a sheet of glass.
Very nice design indeed, at half the price of a BV11, however there' s no mention at all about cable management behind a piece of glass..
Yes, half the price. But i think half the craftsmanship of the Beovision 10/11....
Why we are buying B&O? Good Design, good piece of craftsmanship!, Good working products with the AAAHH Effect!
Look a little bit closer to the Philips TV: okay, a nice design, but the rest? Only think you have this cheap plastic remote in your hand...........
Greets
BV10-46 - BL8002 - BL 19 - BeoPlay A1 - Beo4 - BeoRemote One - 3x Beotime - Beotalk 1200 - Beocom4 - Beocom 2 (Yellow, Alu) - ATV2 / 4

But each time you pick it up, you remember how much money you saved

• I don't think this one gets dust inside the screen• I think Philips is good design, good craftmanship also. Remember that much B&O includes Philips-made hardware.• At least the price includes a remote, and all DVB-receivers, and other things - where you have to buy everything on the side with B&O
Yes, there you´re right, tournedos! hehe
What i meant to say, go to an "TV-Discounter" an look to these TV´s. In my opinion only Loewe has an similar craftsmanship as B&O.
Theres Aluminium, There´s really glas, there are good speakers, a valuabe remote and so on......(i don´t speak now from picture quality!)
Take your fingers and knock a bit on this big big plastic Machines from Samsung, Philips, Sharp.... For my opinion its far far away from an Quality that we want.
That the price for an Beovision is not justified, that´s the other side
@ Michael: yes, you're right too: Dust behind the glas in not quality - and a "typical" B&O Problem at the moment!

The BV7 and BV10 also exhibit the same problems.
I agree that B&O makes very nice TV´s but they do lack much that other manufacturers do better. Such as: thin, light and almost invisible TVs. The current units are also very laggy, which makes them bad for gaming and computer use (I think a few of us likes videogames yes). Most other brands include features such as usb-pvr and receivers for different networks. A B&O tv weighs a lot and is often very thick. I have a 55" Samsung with a thin (1cm) aluminium frame around it. It weighs 16 kilos and hangs on a thread (litterary). It is hard to exchange it for a BV11 that costs four times the price of the samsung which is very slim and looks good. I don´t know on it but it does a good job at being a TV. I have a pair of Avant´s also. They are beautiful but they weigh 86 kg a piece :) even my V1 is heavy at 26 kg. By the way, how strange is the design of the WiFi-unit for the V1? It takes up a lot of space inside the TV with its long cable. Who would ever put it outside the TV? It is hidious. They should have installed it inside the TV and ask people with bad reception to use ethernet :).
BeoBoy68:you can control the Philips TV with your iPhone or iPad not only with the plastic remote. I like this TV. Cables are hidden in a white pipe. The rest is controlled via Wi-Fi.
I control my samsung via my iPhone also, it can even send the picture to it if I want. The BeoRemote app is only available on the iPad and it is not very good.
Actually my partner and I reverse engineered the BeoRemote-app and built our own iPhone app so we can control the V1 from our iPhones also!

If you're own wi-fi signal is strong enough, you can just unplug the antenna. The wi-fi module itself is installed inside the TV, but because of the metal chassis, it will require quite some signal strength to work properly without an extra antenna.
Go ahead .. Unplug your antenna and tell me if it wasn't a good idea with the antenna option .. If you aren't satisfied with the signal without antenna, you just use ethernet. You said so yourself
Btw .. What current B&O products includes Philips electronics?

I don't think that is a very good idea since then the WiFi card uses no antenna at all and has to power its radio at maximum rate just to get a decent signal since it is not connected to anything. Yes, of course I can use Ethernet but most units have built in wifi that works great. I do not have any unit with an auxillary antenna. My other TV has a built in antenna, my AirPort Extreme-router also, and my iPhone, iPad and everything else :).
From end 60's to end 90's B&O TVs have Philips chassis.
Very untrue...
Only the MX1500 and ME6000 have a Philips chassis, some MX have the (worse) Thomson chassis, the vast majority has unique B&O chassis !! (and it shows...)
Many parts are obviously bought from external suppliers (like Philips), chosen for their quality i assume..
Or use the Beo4 and go down the Lintronic route.

And the BV11. Not only does my BV11 have dust, when sun is shining on the TV, you can see a smear on the inside of the glass where they've 'cleaned' it before placing on the TV, but not cleaned it properly (leaving a 10cm smear). Unbelievable.
Strange thing is, neither my BV7's or BV10 suffered from dust under the glass, but the much newer BV11 does! You would have thought they'd have sorted it out by now.

Not fun to hear. Apple uses the same design in their MacBook Pro screens, iMacs, iPads and Thunderbolt Display without an issue. When they service them they use a special antistatic roller to remove dust(that might have gotten in there while servicing). It works very well. I have their 27" monitor and it has not gotten any dust into the screen.
I think it is very sad to hear about all the problems with the BV-screens. And they charge a lot for it. And they don't even know how to clean them properly? A dust free environment should be the only accepted place to assemble them in. And they should be covered by protective plastics that they remove on the assembly line to minimize risks of dust and smudges while putting the parts together.
Moxxey, I think you should have B&O come to your house and replace the screen immediately. Remember what you paid for the set. It is just not acceptable, keep exchanging and when they start realizing that people do this - then they will change it, trust me :).
More moves on the 4K TV front ... mentions Apple, Westinghouse, and unnamed usual suspects ....

this is going to be an interesting year ... or 2014 is going to be for sure :-)
I suspect that some will not survive this turmoil :-(
Should B&O play safe ? or go for broke !
BeoNut since '75

To give them their due they've got a decent headstart!
Ban boring signatures!
