Should I be able to use the sleep timer function with Spotify? My Beosound 5 is connected to Masterlink and in the same room as my BV 10. If I have Spotify playing and press menu on The Beo 4 the BV 10 screen and menu appear but when I select sleep timer it does nothing except close the menu and turn the TV screen off.

If I have the TV on I can set the sleep timer and then switching to the Beosound 5 the sleep timer remains active and will turn all off.

It seems as if I should not have to turn TV on and BS5 off to set the sleep timer?

The Bang & Olufsen press release:

Bang & Olufsen announces a new partnership with Spotify, the world’s leading music streaming service. Bang & Olufsen’s digital music system, BeoSound 5, now ships with complete Spotify integration, adding 20 million songs in premium sound quality to BeoSound 5’s already versatile repertoire. Bang & Olufsen includes all existing BeoSound 5 owners in the Spotify integration through a free online software update.

"We’re thrilled to start streaming with Bang & Olufsen," says Riad Hawa, Spotify’s global hardware partnerships manager. "Bang & Olufsen sets the bar high in both acoustic performance and design quality. Combining the BeoSound 5 with Spotify will offer a music experience that truly stands out, with millions of songs in high fidelity right in your own living room."

Good old Rolling Stones once had a song:

"Who wants yesterdays papers

Who wants yesterdays girl

Who wants yesterdays papers

Nobody in the world"

Hi Robert,

the press release you have posted/quoted is "yesterdays paper"!

I nearly thought that this thread had already died - and that the hype about "BeoSound 5 Spotify Inside" had ended.

Either very few of the BeoWorld'ers have a BS5, or they who have don't care about Spotify after testing it a couple of days?

Fact is that noone tell us if Spotify works well on the BS5 Hmm

Some news though: the loudspeakers in your avatar Geeked

Could you post a bigger/better picture of them?

In my case it works so well I do not have any reason to complain or ask questions. This i by far the best update in the lifetime of BS5. If B&O has the same quality in future updates I do not mind the extra time takes B&O to get things in the market.

At the moment I am just a happy silent man enjoying my BS5, my Beolab 9, my Beolab 3 and my Bose 251 (in the garden) waiting for what to come next.

Big Smile

A new update will come in a few months with a complete integration, including the spotify search function.

I also think the update is great, both Spotify and N Radio logos. Am using the Beosound 5 more than I did before. Thanks B and O for the great update.

Hi Beofan53,

I remember now having seen that before...

But in fact I just wanted to bring life to this thread again.

Not for the sake of creating more pages.

But because it very well might interest the readers how BS5-owners get along wth how Spotify is integrated - and...of cource the quality of this service in conjuction with the - mostly - good/excelent speakers in BS5 setups.

I would like to know if this moves the users away from having their own music on the BM5 towards mainly using Spotify.

Maybe in May - when the next update comes - we will see some more comments.

Greetings Millemissen

For those who were still hoping for a similar update for the BS5E, it seems that B&O has even shut down the update server of this device : since last week, when I go to "update", it fails to find anything after a long time, and when you go to product information on the service menu, you can see that no B&O server is reachable (the BS5E is at the wrong time/date because of that).

I was hoping that the BS5E would provide the same features as the BS5 for "advanced users" that already have a NAS running in their homes, but it seems that B&O made the BS5E brain too small Angry

I love Spotify.

Missing ithms and features:

1. Select spotify music quallity on BS5. Is it automatically highest or the default Spotify low setting?

2. Search functionality.

3. Add Spotify album to favorits. Can only add to starred, and not add as an selectable album.

4. Favorits sorted in same maner as N. MUSIC with 2artist/album".

I will give it 4 out of 5 stars so fare, with room for improvement.

I fully agree, a few features are still missing, but really a great update that seems to work without problems. The last updates went quite well.

I miss the search function + create new playlist, yes, but I have just added a few Joe Bonamassa albums to a playlist so that I can sit and listen to this music (before I buy it in lossless quality).

The biggest wishes from me are search in Spotify and an App to control the BS5, especially in link rooms.

I certainly don't agree. Navigating by laserbeam and not touchscreen is a stroke of genius from B&O. Just compare BS5 to your smeared iPad screen and you will know what I mean. Aesthetically nothing compares to B&O and you don't buy a B&O product just to hide it away in a drawer. The new N.Radio logos just add to that impression.

So to me an iPad app will only function as a supplement but that is also greatly needed as I (as of yet?) cannot search my CD collection by genre. I can search genre in N.Radio so why not on N.Music? I have asked B&O several times about this but they cannot give me a relevant explanation.

On the question of Spotify this is not a service that I will be using as I listen mainly to classsical music, but the update shows me that BM5/BS5 is still a priority with the company and that is reassuring.

Cheers.

Does anyone with a Beo6 and Beosound5 have any updates about if the software on the Beo6 is also updated?

The Beosound5 is indeed much more beautiful than any 'creation 5' similar app for an iPad.

I use spotify mainly to listen to classical music and I find a lot new editions I can't always a ford to buy.

An app would although be useful just for the link rooms. An app with the real look and feel of the BS5 - laser and wheel included.

At my opinion the spotify update already has a lot of functionality in its submenu's. I suggest everyone to try it out.

And that I have done now! Looks beautiful on the BS5 and lots of fine classical recordings. Interesting!

I just came back from vacation in Mexico, what a nice country ..... :-)
The  spotify update was already installed and i'm really  impressed !
I worked already with spotify before, and now I can use it on the BS5

Only problem is it has to be master ....
I really hope B&O comes with a solution for this.
The only (intermediate solution) could be to disconnect my BS9000 from masterlink and connect it to the aux input of the BM5.
This means not controllable anymore  via the remote, but i can still play CDS if I really want to.
It is a design object I do not want to give up

a search function would be interesting like already said in the thread.
but selecting characters via the wheel will not be the best solution...
an app could be a solution, but then you need your smartphone all the time when you want to search something.
May be integration of the BEO6 would be something ... is has the same touch panel as an iphone, so it would be possible to use the beo6 for typing also.
I hope the beo 6 will be integrated with the spotify update soon ...

Another solution could be a  "design" alu mini keyboard attached on the back of the BS5.
you could give it a 180 degree turn from the back to the right side of the BS5 and start typing, when you are done you just turn it back to the left so it is hidden after the screen.
making the screen of the BS5 a touch screen is not a good option ... It will always be dirty

maybe in a couple of decades we will have "the human brain interface" you just have to think what the system has to do and it will do it.
Hopefully this "human brain interface" is usable for managing  kids also ;-)

I have set both audio systems - BS5 AND BS9000 - to audiomaster, both in A.OPT 0, connected to BV7 in V.OPT 2.

For BS5 I have four sources - N.MUSIC, N.RADIO, A.MEM (Spotify) and A.AUX (nothing connected).

For BS9000 I have two sources - RADIO, CD. Both systems respond to A.MEM, A.AUX, so it`s a good idea, not to connect anything to the AUX port of your BS9000. I can select every source from standby mode, and it`s possible to switch between audio sources and control them. In some situations when switching audio sources there is a strange behaviour, because the system switches to selected source without disconnecting the previous source.

So you will hear two sources simultaneously. Workaround can be to select A.AUX - if nothing connected - and then select the new source.

Timer play via BV7 also works, and I can control all sources from linkrooms.

Spotify feature and the latest MLGW update are great improvements to the BS5.

Hope this helps

Stefan

Hi all. I have just been able to register a premium Spotify account in Aus as I cannot create one locally in Singapore as the service is not available here. Then I've added the service to my BeoSound5 and all is up and running! Very impressive integration for a first update. The only thing that's not working following the update is the Net radio logos. I just get the default B&O radio graphic. Has anyone else got this problem or a fix?

Yes, I had the same problem. Restarting BM5/BS5 a couple of times brought the logos back.

Hi

I also had the same problem. I just waited for the BS5 to "download" (or whatever it does) all logos. It took maybe a day or two then they just turned up.

Just had a quick look, Spotify Radio is available and a Search function which i have just tried it with a search for Pink Floyd which revealed two best of Albums by the band and a load of tribute albums.

Now just ready for a Beo6 update :-)

Any ideas on how to "star" items from the remote? The text of the update screen said this was a new feature added but I'm not sure how to do it.

As somebody that was not the Beosound 5's biggest fan, after looking at the Spotify function yesterday this feature has transformed this device into the present, and puts it on my wish list of future purchases.

Well done B&OYes - thumbs up
