Hi, first post so please be gentle. Just bought the above turntable from Ebay but, although it is in beautiful condition externally, the turntable will not turn although the tone arm moves. I removed the metal platter and can see a round "steel" ring with the turntable belt around it. With the metal platter removed the belt and ring turn without any problem. There are 3 raised "spikes" evenly spaced around the metal ring where it appears something should fit (a mat?) to cushion the metal platter and raise it slightly allowing it to turn. Can someone advise if I am correct and am missing a part and if possible where to get a replacement. Many thanks

Hi and welcome to Beoworld,

There are three transport screws at the bottom of the record player make sure they are untightened as these will stop the record platter turning.

Hope that helps

Does the platter bounce up and down when pushed down? If you take the platter off and then turn the deck on, does the belt turn the sub platter?

Hi Peter, the platter hardly moves but the screws below are completely undone. Taking the platter off the belt turns the sub platter (which is a metal ring)

Check the tension of the three leaf springs.

I don't think there is anything missing. When the platter is on the deck, will the platter turn easily by hand or is it catching?

Thanks Peter - when the platter is on the deck it is hard to turn it by hand but there is space all around between the platter and the deck. If I take the platter off and put a 45 on the metal ring below the platter then put the platter back on again the platter turns both by hand and when I switch it to play (not ideal as its loose). It seems that by raising the platter a fraction it solves the problem hence I thought I was missing a part (rubber mat or something similar between the platter and the metal ring?)

Check the tension of the three leaf springs. If too lose, the platter will sit too low.
The platter, when fitted normally, should be apprx 1½mm above the surrounding surfaces.

EDIT: I have corrected the thread title from Beomaster to Beogram.

These 3 spikes support the platter.  There is nothing in between them and the platter.

You need to adjust the platter height! Click on this image to resize it.

Your deck is not faulty!!!

The image posting system used in the Beoworld software is crap!!

I have re-sized the above image to 800x600 pixels and it still won't display properly. I give up!!
