Hi,

I will ask if it's possible to connect a Beomedia 1 to a Beolink Active or Passive via Masterlink cable ?

Thanks a lot for answer,

best, Daniel.

Hi Daniel,

The ML-connection of BM1 is intended to connect to a video- and/or audio-master. So it will not work if you connect to BL active or passive.

What are your plans?

You could use an IR-Eye to control BM1 and run the audio out signals from BM1 to a BL-active PC input.

Hi Hfat,

Thank's for reply.

That's not a good information for me ! I buy the Beomedia last week by internet. I have a BS2300 with BL converter 1611,  2 beolab 8000 (they are connected on to the BS2300, 1 beolab 3500, 2 beolab 2000, 1 BL active and 1 BL passive. I have a BEO5 to control sound.

Actualy I use the PC input from BL converter connected to the BS2300 for audio in all the rooms in my house.

If I do the same with the beomedia it will be not possible to drive it from another room. Is it true ?

What can I do ?

Best, Daniel.

Hi Daniel,

The problem is the fact, that BS2300 isn't N.Music compatible to drive BM1.

BM can act as video or audio product. As audio product it needs ML-link to an n.Music compatible audio master like BS3000 or BS9000.

As video product it needs an additional ir-eye and can in fact be connected to any TV. When connected to an PC compatible video master it is controlled by ML via PC command. If you have no B&O PC compatible TV, just run the video output to your TV. You could additionally connect BM1 sound output to BS2300 a.aux to play music.

Dear hfat,

If I connect the BM1 to no B&O TV with the video output to TV and connect the BM1 sound output to BS2300 a.aux, how can I change the music files in the BM1. Is this possible with the BEO5 ? I think it's not possible.

Daniel.

Hi Daniel,

if you mean hot to navigate through the music files you have to connect an ir-eye to the BM1 and configure the BM1 to be activated by a v.aux, DVD or V.tape2. But you will have to activate the a.aux input on BS2300 manually to not interfere BM1 operation as it gets deactivated when you send the a.aux IR-command.

It doesn'tmake any difference to use Beo4 or Beo5. Is your TV already connected to BS2300?

Hi,

I understand.

Before connecting a TV on BM1 I have to find how to connect the IReye to BM1. I have one from a BL active. I didn't use it at this time. I searching for the connection diagram. Do you know where I can find it?

For information I have an old MX4000 in another room. Can it help me?

Best,

Daniel.

Hi Daniel,

first of all you need an AUX Y-Spliter. You can get it from Steve at Sounds Heavenly here or from a B&O Dealer. This cable belongs between the mastelink converter (1611) you own and your beocenter 2300. Then you can connect the BM1 audio to your B&O System. In the link rooms you can listen to the music from the BM1 by activating A.Tape (or Phono, CD2, DVD, TV, SAT, VTAPE, VTAPE2..) But this can only be used for opening the audiochannel not for controling the BM1.

To make this work you have to set your Beocenter 2300 to Option 2 so that it reacts to video commands and opens the AUX input for TV, SAT... .

To control your BM1 you need an IR-eye or an VX-Sensor (rare). The VX Sensor has the advantage that you just plug it into the IR Jack of the BM1 For the IR-eye you have to solder a 3,5 mm Headphone plug to the cable see here (down at the bottom of the page).

There might be a chance to save the IR-eye but i haven't tried it up to now (lack of time Crying ). Maybe one could use the datalink wire of the AUX-Connector to send the received data (by the BS2300) to the BM1 IR-jack.

Great idea to use the 1611. If you manage to open audio channel with VTape2 command, you can control BM1 (via IR-Eye) as it can be configured for source VTape2. But you will need the TV to follow the GUI navigation.

You can also use a nice Computer monitor like a XEROX with glass in front of the TFT or something else, as long as it has the 15 pin VGA connector..
