I only have 1 DVI port which I have an adapter converting to HDMI for Sky. I have now recently purchased Apple TV which is only HDMI. I have to remove the lead from Sky into Apple TV. There is no sound on the Apple TV. Is there any way I can have my Sky and Apple TV connected without unplugging one of them for the other. Also, how can I get sound for the Apple TV as it only has optical audio port? I hope this is not too complicated and I apologise for the poor tech speak. Please keep answer simple as I'm not a big technical person!!
Hi and welcome to BeoWorld,
please do not think that I am unpolite - but the simplest answer to your question is: do upgrade your BV to a version with HDMI-inputs.
Sure there are some other solutions for your problem. But they would be rather tricky, if you don't want to mess with switches and converters and - perhaps - updating the SW of your tv.
Greetings Millemissen
There is a tv - and there is a BV
Solution is simple.
1) Buy a splitter like this: http://www.azcotechnologies.com/azhdmis13------hdmi--1x3-switcher/product/47/3/
2) Use an optical to digital audio convertor like this: http://www.atlona.com/Atlona-Optical-Digital-Coaxial-2-Way-Converter.html
Thats all.

Probably not all.. Software for the DSM-module must be at least 3.01 (not likely) Otherwise the TV won't accept PCM-stereo, only 5.1 And like Millemissen said, SW update for the tv must be up to date.
Both software updates also needs to be done with hardware chips.
...and he needs a switch for the sound-inputs.
That is why I presented 'the simple solution': upgrade the tv!
How do you switch between Sky and Apple TV when they are going through one port
How do you upgrade your current tv or are you talking about me selling and buying a new tv

By pressing the button on the HDMI splitter. Of course you have to assign via your BV7-40 Connections MENU the different sources. For example: SKY (V.MEM) and ATV (V.AUX).
And yes, your TV has to be software and hardware updates for PCM sound (not so expensive upgrade).
My answer is that it is possible EASILY to do it. I have done it also and many others in the forum.
When someone asks how do i put snow tires in my car, i do not think the answer is buy a 4X4 SUV car.....
