Right down your way, Mika!

Headline says "Functions not", but description says "Plays well" ?????
Bit pricey for a non-working unit, but if no-one bites, he may be amiable to an offer.
Menahem
Very pricey I would say! $500 for a non working deck and butchered plug. I would look elsewhere.
Peter
It's the first BG4000 I see for sale locally, but I agree with Peter - just too much to pay for a project, although the exterior seems nice. When you see a non-original power cable & signal cable, it's a crap shoot what else you will find inside. I suppose the seller is a foreigner, otherwise he probably wouldn't have chosen a foreign currency and a very little used (over here) selling medium for a local sale...

I should say that these are getting scarce, so good spot Menahem! I will have to get my scouts out looking for one for Soren!
There's one on ebay UK also right now, but even more expensive.
And to think I used to sell fully-restored BG4002's and BG6000's for $600-$800!
I'm also looking for them right now, for customers who want fully-restored units, but not at this price. $250 is the maximum I'm willing to pay for a non-working unit.
You guys are too conservative.
They ain't making them any more!
In all my years, I have seen (1) one single solitary 4000 available in the states from common sources.
I bought it.

I have been searching the bay, also saw the Suomi one, even the 4002/4 are offered for fantasy prices over here, Best chance I guess is DK and the 2nd hand sites there. And Peter keep on looking. Much appreciated.
Collecting Vintage B&O is not a hobby, its a lifestyle.

Haha....I am looking for one as well. I have my original 4002 from 1977 and a while back I picked up a 4004 that I need to get working. The 4004 is in good physical condition. I have never come across a 4000 in my area though. But I keep looking.

Competition is there
In my opinion we must have the Danes to chime in here, Søren Hammer, Steffen, Dennis, Friedmet and so on, Maybe they can find something for us.
Well I have a 4000, a 4001 (!) and a 4004. The 4004 is one I bought new in about 1980 and I bought the other two on eBay. I also had a white 4002 which I gave away. The 4000 came smashed up and it was only the skill of my local repair shop owned by my old dealer, Windows of the Arcade, that managed to get it working again. The 4000 seems heavier and better made than any other B&O deck I have had.

I called the 4000 "Unobtanium over here" in another thread just this week, though I can say I've seen two in the flesh!

And Beek won't! They are both in Atlanta right now!
Well I have never gone back into the Beogram 4000/6000 series as yet. I seem to be stuck with 8000, 6000 and 6500. But finding those Beograms for a fair price in Denmark is not hard to do.
The market do not really get inspired by ebay prices but only Danish dealerships when comming to set a price.

Friedmett, if you come over one or two, just mail me, I pay cash, and have a Danish shipping address, and some possibilities for pick up. And I have some friends going frequently to DK, myself maybe going in September.
Would be fun to get an international thread about how we can screw it together, over all borders.

That's a shame.
Hope you gave Benny my regards.

Speaking of borders, whatever happened with Evan's international BM4000?
Rich:Speaking of borders, whatever happened with Evan's international BM4000?
1. Evan is studying hard
2. Evan is racing cars and studying
3. Evan has a new girlfriend
4. Evan's BeoVirus is in sleeping condition.
Pick your answer
It got relisted...and later in the evening was BIN'd for $650 Good luck.
Saves me the trip to Forex to get some greenbacks for the payment...

Peter,
I can confirm that the 4000 is both heavier and MUCH better made than those decks that followed, I know as I have worked on all of them.
From your other thread “Which is your favourite B&O product and why?” you know how much I value my Beogram 4000, which Martin has had on his bench.
Don’t get me wrong as the Beograms 4002/4004 are marvelous turntables, I have both and wouldn’t part with either for all the money in the world, but the 4000 stands in an absolute class by itself.

Hi Rich,
Unobtanium indeed, I purchased a Beogram 4002 and 4004 to replace my now repaired Beogram 8000….. only then did I find a Beogram 4000 in New Jersey! Suffice to say I HAD to have it.
The seller after much communication pulled the Beogram 4000 off eBay and then insisted in talking to me on the phone before agreeing to sell it to me. The call lasted well over an hour before the seller decided that I would give his 4000 a good and proper home.
The later 4000 series turntables are wonderful, but they are lithographs, the 4000 is the original.
