Hi all,
apologies if this has been covered before. I've got master control link set up in my flat, as follows:
Beomaster 7000 in the main living space, communicating via IR with a lintronic code converter (for x10 light control)
MCL2a type 2047 in the guest room
MCL2a type 2045 in the study
MCL2av type 2031 (Software 3.2) in the master bedroom
I send light commands to the beomaster from the link rooms, and at present I have to press link light to get the beomaster to transmit the command to my lintronic box. Ideally I'd like to achieve this without hitting link first. Unfortunately my beo4 remotes are too old to have the software option of permanent link mode. Is there an L.Opt that will pass the light codes straight through?
many thanks!
Luke
My system is also MCL and I control a LightManagerPro in the main room. I experimented with MCL2 option settings but eventually had to re-program one of my Beo4s to work in permanent link mode.
I too would be interested to know if anyone else has a alternative solution. Stefan?
Hi and welcome to Beoworld,
there are four L.OPT possible. L.OPT 0 - no IR, L.OPT 1 - IR for audio commands, L.OPT 2 for audio- and video commands, L.OPT 4 for audio- and video commands in LINK mode. The MCL light system was designed as a whole house light control with LC1/LC2 dimmers installed.
LAMP 1-9 control single LCs, LIGHT 1-9 control lightscenes in a single room. LINK LIGHT 1-9 control lightscenes for the whole system. MCL 2 A(AV) can receive AND transmit light commands.
The MCL system does only transmit Light commands in LINK mode, but you can set Beo4 remote to permanent LINK mode as Guy suggested or create a LINK - LIGHT button ob Beo5/6.
Where is your Lintronic box connected? I assume it receives Beo LIGHT commands via Datalink and transmits third party commands for your 10 light controls? So you will need three Lintronic boxes for all link rooms...? Would be easier to use LC2s, or a Light manager Pro (Beo version) should also work as a receiver...(?)
I had an MCL linksystem with a lot of LC2s for years. and it worked perfect, even timer controlled via Beomaster 7000 or Beocenter 9500.

Thanks Stefan - looks like I'll have to stick with link light commands!
My lintronic box is in the living room next to the beomaster - when I send a link light command from any link room the beomaster relays the data to the lintronic box by IR. The lintronic box then sends x10 light commands over the power cables in the flat. it is possible to put the lintronic box directly on the datalink bus and that is a good suggestion, but doing so disables the internal IR receiver, causing problems for other features of my home automation setup.
The nice thing about the x10 system is that light on/off/dim commands are sent via the power lines, so I can get away with just 1 lintronic box. The light controllers are also comparatively cheap, especially second hand. The downside is its an old technology and a bit slow!
Basically it seems that I have 3 choices to fix the issue
1. Buy newer Beo4 remotes with the more recent software allowing permanent link mode
2. Buy additional lintronic boxes and x10 modems for the link room
3. Swap the light controllers for LC1/LC2
To be honest all 3 seem quite expensive ways to address a minor frustration so I'll put up with hitting the link button!
Thanks again to all for your help - it really is very much appreciated :)
