Hi all,
I am currently using the line-in / line-out ( Red/White) sockets on my BV 7-40 for my Beogram 7000. This meant I had to unplug my minimac from these sockets.
Is there any other connections sockets on the BV 7-40 I can use to re-connect my Mini-Mac to the TV?
would greatly appreciate your help on this
Paul (Dublin)
I would think the obvious way to connect a Mac Mini to a BV-7 is HDMI. That's how I did it.
BeoLab 5, BeoVision 7-55 MK2, BeoSound 5 Encore, BeoSound 9000, BeoLab Penta III, BeoLab 8000, BeoLab 6000, BeoLab 2, BeoLab 7-6, BeoSound 8, BeoTime (analog clock), Beo 4 remote.
Hi Hungedu....sorry, im a technical idiot....so....
. had a look at the back of the Tv and yes, the MiniMac IS actually connected to the Tv via the HDMI port....I realise now it is the SOUND connection to the minimac that was set up using Red/White Linein / line out..(Duhhh) .....
but of course since I now have my Beogram 7000 in the Line-in /Line-out (and as far as i can tell there is only one such set of connections), and of course i had to disconnect the minimac from this line-in/ line-out , thus I can no longer get sound from my MiniMac. (unless i keep unplugging/plugging in the beogram or MiniMac cables whenever i want to use either :(.......not a great solution!!!
can you think of another solution via the TV?
for instance, is it possible to get a Splitter of some kind to allow me to run both Beogram and minimac from the one set of red/whie Line in/Line out???
Id greatly appreciate any input from anyone to help me on this. HELPPPPP:)
Thanks
Hi, you can now find adaptors that connect to your Mac Mini's video output & optical sound output and merge everything in the HDMI standard, you can then use a HDMI cable from this adaptor to the TV. This will make you benefit from a single cable connection to your TV, plus digital sound with AC3/DTS capabilities that you don't have with a phono cable.
I use this option on my MacBookPro to watch HD movies, and it works perfectly. You'll need 1 free USB input on the Mac too in order to power the adaptor.

Hi, you should be able to have both audio + video arrive over the HDMI !
That is how my MacMini is connected to my BeoVision.
I presume you have a recent MacMini and also are running Lion ... if so you may have the problem that you need to unplug the audio cable to be able the HDMI audio to work.
BeoNut since '75
thanks christopher - ill have a look and see if i can find such a cable..if not, ill contact Steve in heavenly sounds...Any idea what this cable is called??? (As i said, i am not very technical and even had to read n reread ur reply to finally grasp what you were saying:):):)....
Elephant, The minimac is about 2 yrs old, virtually unused and sufficient to meet my needs for watching downloasds and listening to digitally descecrated music :) - thnak god i now have my lovely Beogram :):):)
but the Mac runs on Leopard i think and not Lion......so i tried removing the other cable and relying only on HDMI but no sound. actually it was installed by B&O engineers, so i assume the Line in -Line -out was necessary?

could you please check your "System Preferences" and the "Sound" icon and its "Output" tab - you should see a line which has the HDMI connection ... try to take a screen capture like this one of what your system has:
