My BS9000 mk3 shows software version 3.4 on the product label.
I note from Keith's list that the latest version is 3.42 and this is also the version that is shown in the MLGW product compatibility document as being required for SOURCE COMMAND from ML (With listed software version (or newer), product can be controlled from MLGW through ML by simulated IR control)
Are 3.4 and 3.42 one and the same or will I need to upgrade in order to enable this functionality?

The short answer is NO
The long answer is Software 3.42 provides MasterLink Gateway compatible in a link room for options 5 and 6This is only compatible with BeoSound 9000 MK III.
