Hello fellow beo owners.

I have a problem with my BS 5000. It is a complete system with 3 sets of speakers of which two pairs are connected via MCL 82's.

This setup has been working very well for quite some time now. It is only the last two weeks or so that I have noticed that the left channel sometimes almost dissapears. The volume gets very low indeed, but it does not mute completely. And then suddenly the sond comes back for a minute or so. This affects all speaker sets.

I would be very grateful if someone could help me solve this problem.

Sounds like a failing component so will need a service. Will need the fault tracing and not something that a few button presses will fix  I am afraid. Worth doing though!

What Peter said.
Maybe just the muting relay, that's quite common.

True, but happening on both speaker sets.

That's Peter for you, always an eye for details. Laughing
I missed that part.
Can't be the muting relay then.

Thanks for the replies guys.

I feared it would some fault tracing, not really my strongest disciplin.
I suppose it's not likely anything visible to the naked eye like a burned out component or such?

I remember fixing a power down problem on this very receiver by adjusting a pair of trimmers (without really knowing what I was doing but Ithink it was something Martin suggested, thanks by the way), could it be related or is it something completely else?

I would suggest that that is certainly worth looking at. Old variable resistors do seem to have a habit of disintegrating when adjusted and often are best replaced. I would test the ones you adjusted before doing anything else.
