Beosystem 2 IR connections

Hi, I have 2 x Beosystem 2s and the first one came with what I think is the correct sensor that has no buttons and a multi pin plug. Sensor has green LED when system is active. I now have another Beosystem 2 but the seller gave me a slightly different sensor with a 3.5mm jack connection.  There are sockets on the Beosystem for both types marked "IR in" does anyone know what the difference is.  I'm making the assumption that the multi wire connect is for two way data, i.e. IR functions but also signals back from the sensor with ambient room light levels for the 'Vision Clear' function?  Where as the lower spec 3.5mm type is just for remote commands???  If this is the case, then does the BS2 / BV4 Vision Clear function simply not work and the setting remain at factory set values or something?

The difference is the auto-contrast (Vision Clear) function. Please refer to:

Great diagram, thanks. will see if my dealer can supply the mini DIN cable and plug... ?
