I am right now in process to freshen up a pair of M75 speakers that I just bought. The wooden fanner is in a beautiful good condition but when I, somewhat, carefully took the grill off I, unfortunately, broke two plastic pegs that are holding the grill in place. Is it possible to buy these pegs? Where? Or does someone have another more durable “peg solution”.
The speakers (mid and bass) which have been deteriorated by dry rot need to be re-foamed.
I noticed a small scratch on the speaker grill fabric and it needs to be replaced. Again where is it possible to find close to original grill fabric?
Also, is it advised to change some (or all) of the caps on the crossover? In this case which?
Any help or ideas are much appreciated. Thanks!
/Dan
The pegs are very fragile - I certainly have two broken at least on my M100s! I have left them alone and resolved to simply not taken the grilles off often!
I had all the grey capacitors replaced - they all needed to be.
I had the midrange of the M100s refoamed - it needed a cut and shut as it is a slightly odd size but it worked fine.
The fabric just needs to be acoustically transparent - any speaker supplier can get you a reasonable match - one of our members has gone the other route to a more colourful solution!!

In my last 2 sets of speakers I used these types of capacitors.
The broken pegs you can repair with plastic wall plugs, cut to size and epoxy it to the frame
Speaker fabric I got from here

Thanks for the, um, diplomatic description of my solution. (See my avatar.)
The pegs can actually be fixed if you still have them. You need a pin vise to do it. The procedure is quite simple. People who have put multi-part models together are probably familiar with "pinning parts together."
Choose a drill bit the same size as some metal rod you have lying about - I use a snipped piece of paper clip. Drill a hole in the peg, and drill a hole in the "base" where the peg broke. The holes need only be 2-3 mm. Snip a piece of rod (paper clip) to fit the holes. Put a drop of superglue in the hole of the peg. Put the rod in the peg. Put a drop of superglue on the rod sticking out of the peg. Insert the rod into the hole in the "base." Done.
Peter,Yes, thanks, I will definitely change all the grey caps. I just re-foamed the speakers. As it was the first time for me doing this, I must say it was much easier than I thought. I bought a M75 re-foaming kit from http://www.audio-parts.de and they fit perfectly. I am not sure if M100 has the same sized midrange speaker as the M75. Now I have a another question:When I went to the store to buy the replacement capacitors for the crossover, I gave the guy at the store my old ones and he gave me these back: Replace the old 15 uF with 22 uF and also he said that the old 25 uF should be replaced with 47 uF, is this a good advice? Also, to replace the old brown/red(100/40) to 47uF / 400v..!?? /Dan

Sören,I am using your screw plug method. I drilled a small cavity in the diameter of the plugs base, glued it in place and it works. This is just perfect! So smart and so simple. Thanks! /Dan
It looks like your dealer has given you the wrong capacitors, they need to be bipolar; it looks like there is an arrow pointing to the negative polarity. I would replace the old 25 uF with 22 uF, as with the 15 uF ones.
The brown Roedenstein capacitor is polar, and used for the clipping/overload diode (not in the audio path) - pretty much any value over 47 uF will do.
Vinyl records, cassettes, open reel, valve amplifiers and film photography.
I agree. Wrong Caps all the way.
Replace 25uf with 22uf and 2,2uf In parallel.Similarly 15uf with 10 uf and 4.7uf if you cannot get 15 uf.The kit contains 15uf caps.
They need to be bipolar caps for the crossovers. And don't fit 400 Volt types, they will not be excited.

Martin beat me with the answer, the best you can do is buy Martins kit, or go here, are you going to change the fabric too ?
All, Many thanks! Wrong caps! That was my suspicion. I, myself, being a happy amateur, I am very much in their hands. /Dan
Hi Martin.
I hope you are well. Do you still supply the Cap Kit for M75?
