So i set out to buy a beogram record player for my old beomaster 2400-2. I found a very nice place that restored old ones and sold them at a fair price, but couldn't choose which one of these to get:
The beogram 2200 - MMC 20 E pickup, TEAK (which is what i'd prefer) 1300 DKK
The beogram 6000 - MMC20EN pickup (as i understand it, the far best of the three), with palissander (looks ok) 1300 DKK
The beogram 2404 - MMC5 pickup, TEAK 1300 DKK
The big question here is how much better the MMC20EN is than the other two (whether it is enough for me to ignore the colour) and which is best between the MMC20E or MMC5 if i should choose to go with the 2200 or 2404.
Interesting choice - I would get the 2404. Why?
1. It is the one that will work by remote with the 2400-2. The 6000 uses the later codes and is designed to work with Datalink.
2. The MMC5 is the worst cartidge here but Axel can retip it so that it becomes a MMC2 when finances allow.
3. It is the colour you like - I prefer rosewood myself.
Is it the turntable I would be looking for? No - I would hold out for a 4004.

I will agree with Peter.
And I will add, that the BG 6000 might have slightly better specifications - but being 20 years+, it will probably have (or will soon have) some electronic issues (needs repair). The 2200/2400 series turntables were mostly mechanical and are very reliable.
Thanks a lot for the answers. I actually just realized the 2404 is 1700 DKK and i don't own a remote for the Beomaster, and don't really feel the the need for one either, so I believe that renders the 2404 obsolete. All the record players should be newly restored, so I don't really fear any of them breaking down the moment i get them. I guess that just leaves me with the choice of a better pickup vs a preferable color.

It seems to be quite high prices for those Beograms. OK -they are restored - but you can find Beograms in the 2200/2400 range for a few hundred DKKr. (as you write prices in DKK, I guess you live in Denmark?)2 years ago I bought a Beogram 2404 with MMC4 pickup for 300 DKKr - still working
The 6000 and 2404 were from the same period - interestingly the 2404 has the newer arm showing the cross over in these systems. Very similar decks otherwise so get the one you like the look of best. The older arm actually reviews quite well though both of these were criticised for taking lightness too far! I had a 6000 radial and it was a good deck.

The ones i see in these price ranges tend to be broken in one way or another, and pretty much all of them carry the mmc20e. The fact you even got an MMC4 with it seems impressive.
