Does anyone know if and when the Beosouind 8 will come equipped with Airplay?  I am holding off buying one for this very reason

Thanks

I have heard autumn this year. First will B&Oplay iPad dock / holder be introduced according my dealer.

And with B&O autumn can be spring this year so I have decided to go for the BS8 now (without airplay).

Other alternatives could be, if you didn't want to hold off:

  • You could also use an aiport express if you want airplay
  • If the BS8 is in the same room as an another airport device you could use that device as an airplay speaker and plug the BS8 into (provided it has the right connections ;-) )
  • A BeoLit 12 (that has 2 speakers for stereo)

I myself am not really sold on airplay.  I thought ages ago that I would kick myself for getting the BS8 without airplay, but for me, it's something I  haven't even used much, besides the ipad to my apple tv for movies - this was before the apple tv actually showed your purchases.

What happens if your next phone is not an iphone?  Even for me, that will mean using the BS8 as computer speaker or via the RCA's, so i'm thankful it has these other connections.

Regards

MH

Thanks for all the info.  I'll wait.  And I do not have an iPhone now, but I do have an iPad and that's why I want Airplay.  Can't envisage ever getting another tablet.  It's fantastic

AirPlay great for the Apple TV. However, I can't see why I'd need it on my BS8. Indeed, I think the BS8 would look really odd without an iPhone or iPad connected - looks odd enough with just an iPhone/iPod Touch. An iPad complements the design.

When the iPad 3 arrived, I kept my iPad 2 for this very purpose. It's now my perma-connected BS8 controller :)

I used Airport Express with Beosound 8. Stunning in my opinion. The MacBook can be upstairs or in the garden with me as I type and music plays through the Beosound 8 in the house. I have even wall mounted my iPad using the Vogels bracket and it is like having my own 'cheap version' of a Beosound 5!
