Hi All

I have just gotten a hand of one of the 500 DAB versions of the BC2300, but... The CD Player isn't working..

When I press CD, the disc isn't spinning at all, but i can se the laser trying to focus, and i know that the motor that drives the arm works. I have dismantled the BC unit completely, and i moved the laser arm downwards manually, and then turned on the system, and it moved the laser to the starting position..

Unfortunately I cannot access the service mode, maybe it is something to do with the DAB, but when i try to short the clamping switch as described, nothing happens (even when using AUX mode).

I suspect that it is the main motor that is done for, but how can I test it the best ? Or would it help tp recap the CDM12 controller board ?

What would be the step of error finding here ? I don't have access to a lot of scopes and instruments. I guess i could just put 6v to the main motor and see if that runs at all as the first step ?

Thanks for all your input..

Just a quick update, the main motor is working fine, I have just tested it with 3V, and it is spinning perfectly.

So, the controller board? Or could it be the laser that keeps the controller from spinning the cd up at all ? I guess it won't spin the cd if there is no laser light at all ?

I would think it's most likely the laser. Which CD model is it?

Thank you, I have just ordered one, then we will see :) It was not expensive, but dou you think that the laser could be why the cd isn't spinning at all, and not the controller board ? I have found more examples on people changing the capasitors, but is that for another problem ?

It can defenitly be the reason. The motor will not start unless the laser gets focus. Of course it can also be other faults but the laser is the most common cause for malfunction of the CDM12 and its derivates.

In every failed unit where the disc will not spin that I have had - many (in units that move in a straight line) it has always been the lens from my experience.  Never anything else.

Fantastic :)

Looking forward to getting the new lens and trying it out, but it makes a lot of sense that it will not spin the disc up if it cannot get focus or "see" a disc..

Hi Weebyx

Did you fix the problem with the remote control. I have a similar problem with a my Beocenter 2300 DAB.

Regards
