I have a QNAP219P that is always very reliable and runs Twonky. I don't have a BS5 but it works well with several other devices.
I only know that B&O only recommends the Iomega NAS (now Lenovo) for the BM5. I dit it, but it does'n work very well....
I think you need to step careful here.
Some NAS support a complete off modus and some just shut down the drives.
i haven't seen anyone responding about the "deep sleep". Issue might be with the encore that it scans the network only on startup for potential devices.
You might want to test that with a computer before splurging on another NAS or you might wanna give up on the deep sleep and lve with hdd shut down only. It most-likely not worth the trouble replacing the lacie
Cheers

I use a DS412+, which goes to deep sleep (in fact it's an "off" state), and no issues with the Encore.
I have used LaCie and WD NAS before, and although the Synology doesn't run Twonky, their media server software is way better than Twonky.
On an other thread, I explained that the Synology pushing music in Airplay mode is working better, even with Flac files, on a Beosound Essence, than using the DLNA mode!
And since saturday, I can access my whole movie collection on my Apple TV with a nice interface (full cover navigation), by running pled server and PlexConnect on the Synology. In this case, it's the NAS which has to transcode movies into a Apple TV compatible stream, so you need some good processing power on the NAS...

Hi
Have recently bought the Beosound 5 Encore and a WD MYCloud as my NAS.
The NAS has been added to my Network and so has the BS5E has now can listen to the Radio. however the BS5E as not connected to my NAS
Can you advise please what i need to do.
Thanks
Nigel
you are right; me too, when purchased BS5, provided to add a iomega NAS, 'cause the B&O reseller told me that only with that NAS, B&O gave assistance. These NAS revealed to be terrible: I did not get to see CD covers, lost all the data stored twice and I had a lot of problems, noone of these was fixed by B&O assistance. After one year of attempts, decided to put the iomega in the trash bin. Now I have a Qnap.

you are right. Mee too followed the B&O recomendations and bought a Iomega NAS: It has been nothing easy to find, and any retailer asked me why I wanted it and not a Qnap or Sinology.. Using the iomega I realized because all the retailers asked me that. I throwed it in the trash bin after some months of problems, data loss and time wasted. Now my Qnap works great
