hi everyone,

just purchased a 1202 in good cosmetic condition but I can't seem to hear anything.

as far as I could see everything seems to work mechanically fine - all arm wires are attached

no cable broken - tried with two different cartridges ....but no sound to be heard !

any suggestions or ideas are most welcome

cheers, alf

Does your reciever/amplifier got a RIAA-pre amplifier?

greetings,

I am using two Braun R4/2 receivers, both come with phono-inputs offering either RCA or DIN connectors

 cheers, ALF

Is the stylus tracking the record correctly ?

And if yes, Does the Braun use the same pin connection as the B&O 5 pin DIN, and check the muting contact in the 1202.

Collecting Vintage B&O is not a hobby, its a lifestyle.

hi martin,

first thing: the cantilever seems to be in a fairly low angle, so the stylus tip does just look out of that transparent plastic bit ?

it is an SP-10 - on my SP-14 the cantilever angler is a lot bigger and when the arm is lowered the stylus sits correctly in the groove.

to sum up: I suspect the suspension of that SP-10 system is damaged.

so soren,

the DIN 5-pin plug seems different - I did use a DIN-RCA adaptor and surprise....the signal was there :-)

had to use an additional piece of wire to eliminate the hum though !

next project in line is to figure out the tracking force and antiskating adjustment as that little turning knob on the arm's right side came undone

as it is spring-loaded I am stepping totally in the dark after pushing it back in what I am actually adjusting in terms of force ??

cheers, klaus

You set the knob to "0" and then turn the counterweight until the tonearm balances in mid-air. Then you set the knob to the desired needle pressure.
