Hi all, wonder if anyone could help.I have my old faithful beovision 5 hd in lounge, which has bl8000,bl4000,bl2 an bs3200 connected.

Just today played tv and music in speaker 2 mode, and their is very low sound coming out of left speaker, where as the right is fine, also rear speakers not coming on now when I press speaker 4.

I have looked at all the connections, tried new powerlink cables, plugged the speakers directly into beosound, and they work as they should,so my only conclusion must be dolby module in tv.Can they still be replaced or is the tv too old now.

any help would be appreciated,as I have had the tv from new and would be sad to see it go as I use it for surround sound.

Have you tried the plugging in the rear speakers into the front positions to verify the speakers are ok ?

Maybe because the title you used, is a kind of misleading.

I think you problem is not ralated to dolby digital decoder, because activating speaker 1 - 5 is only controlled by your speaker setup.

I do not have a beovision 5, but an avant which is quite similar, so please check the folowing:

Are speaker types setup correctly?

When swiching to speaker 4, does BV5 show speaker 4 on OSD ?

Reverse speaker connections: front to back, back to front: What happens?

Reverse speaker connections: left to right, right to left. What happens?

Thanks hfat for your reply, but I  have tried, the rear speakers, in the front sockets and they work, and have plugged them into beosound, and they work.Tonight, the  front speakers are working fine, last night the sound was biased to front right speaker again,so thought it must be decoder problem in tv.

When I press speaker 4 yes it indicates on the tv screen and their is the usual slight pause before the rears activate, but are not activating.I had a problem like this years ago with a bv3s doby decoder.

You should be able to get a new part - I agree with your diagnosis.
