Hey everyone,
I have two Beolink 7000's. The first one looks just like the ones I always see. On the second one though the shape of the contacts is visible through the glass, even when turned off. Does anyone have any idea why this is? The picture exaggerates it a bit, but you get the idea.

Never seen such. Got a lot of Beolinks 7000 but this? Is it always visible or is it just because of the light?

Yep Leslie, always visible. When I took that picture there was no light on in the room and no flash. It always looks like that. I'd take a picture with it next to my other BL7000 but that's unfortunately in another state.
There's one on Ebay right now that I noticed that on also. Is that yours?
Neither one of the ones I've had has has had the contact points that visible.
I have a Beocenter 9500 with the same problem (fortunately nowhere near that visible though). I remember a BL7000 discussed for the same issue some years back, but I don't think nobody ever came up with an explanation how this happens. Perhaps a bad batch with colouring that fades?

Maybe it's some kind of delamination of the glass layers.
I once bought one on Ebay with the same problem... maybe this is the unit as I re-sold it on ebay..
It seems like the black coating is missing entirely, my B&O technican said that this could happen due to long exposure to sunlight or
aggressive fluids used to clean the glass.
Never heard of a faulty coating from the factory.... Lets think back in time and remember what the proice point was on the BL7000, I would never (!)
accept a BL7000 with this look from B&O and its from the better B&O days where they cared about their customers...

If you think nobody cares, try missing a couple of payments.
I have found that people on Ebay who dig this stuff up out of old closets or some relative's belongings who has passed away have no idea about all of the problems that plague this equipment when they just list it as "perfect", and then think we're crazy when we bring up these kinds of issues. Pretty sure the one on Ebay right now (one of two I think in the US) also has a broken backlight.
This all makes me appreciate my Ebay 7000 all that much more. These are so hard to find in perfect shape and I have entertained the thought of selling it because I REALLY want one with the original box (only one I have ever seen is attached to an entire 7000 system on Ebay and the seller won't separate the components, he's asking an astronomical figure for all of it). I paid a lot for it, and I guess it was worth it in the end.
Makes you wonder if a film as used in tinting car windows might help? Just a thought!

Thanks for the replies guys. I didn't buy it on ebay. I actually received it for next to nothing when buying some other things as the owner didn't know if it even worked. It works perfectly but is in need of the usual battery and recap. I haven't had time to deal with anything b&o for awhile now, but as I always walk by it on the stand my curiosity reminded me to ask you guys. As I mentioned it's my second BL7000, so I never gave it too much thought.
My daughter dropped mine from the floorstand to the floor about a year ago - fortunately the floor remain intact, and my daughter also survived the incident because there was no problem with the remoteThe only problem was, that there are slight missing "black cover" below the glass area in about 2 cm^2, however there is not any visible scratch or damage exists on the glass.For this reason, I think, there is a black layer was bonded in between the glass and the remote's body, and it torn. So - and IMHO - the mentioned remote was completly lost this "layer", because it was also damaged, and somebody solved the problem with a "complete removal", or, someone somewhere over the rainbow thought: it's fun, or it's trendy.I have no idea on what kind of film, or material can replace this layer, so I left the remote as is. Now I see, it was the best I could do, as this could lead to this result...
I bought one a month ago on ebay and it also has a problem like AT has. there are 2 places of 5 x 20 mm in the down left corner and down right corner. It looks like if there is a air-bubble between the front-glass and a Black film on the inner side of the glass
