ARCHIVED FORUM -- March 2012 to February 2022READ ONLY FORUM
This is the second Archived Forum which was active between 1st March 2012 and 23rd February 2022
Hi all,
As much as I love this forum, I have to admit that I'm npt 100% capable with the forum software. One of the things that bug me is the search function - I think it's difficult to use, and I seldom get the results I'm looking for. I do understand that this is a problem that is difficult to solve - if the chosen software has a poor search engine, there is probably not mush to do about it.
However, I think it would be a great solution to have the forum searchable via google - their search engine is much better and many people know how to use it for advanced searches - but as it is now google is not allowed to index the forum, which means that you can't use google to find threads and posts. What's the reason for this? I think it would be great to be able to use google to search the forum, and probably this would result in less duplicated threads as well.
I've had reasonable success with the forum when typing a search term and "beoworld" into google (and many times BeoWorld forum topics come up as the main search hit for almost ANY Bang and Olufsen product related term I search for), my only complaint with the forum is that many times the things I search for seem to be in the "archived" forum section, and thus when you click on a link within the archived forum that links out to another archived forum posting, the links don't work anymore. I finally figured out that if you just copy the thread number and paste it at the end of the archived forum URL you can usually get to the other posting, but it's not a very intuitive system.
Yes, the archived forum seems to be indexed by google.
A good side-effect of a google-indexed forum is that the site probaby would get much more visitors.
