have already posted this in the general discussion thread since the Beotalk 1200 is not really vintage. However, getting help there is less probable since there are so many threads started.
I've purchased an new Beotalk 1200. I haven't set everything up correctly until now. However, I have wall mounted the unit and connected cables according to the manual. When plugging in the power supply, after a couple of minutes some strange cracking noises and beeps can be heard from the speaker. Is this an indication for a defect? If not, what other reasons can be the cause? Help is much appreciated.

No suggestions but the noise is not normal.
A loose connection where the power cable enters the power supply/transformer could cause such noises. I had to re-solder a similar power supply to cure a fault with a Beocom.
Thanks! The question is, whether I do have connected everything correctly. Where do I plug the phone line connection? I have a DSL box. Do I plug the line connector in the box or directly in the telephone connection in the wall? Sorry if I express myself unclearly, but I'm lacking the technical terms to state it more precisely. Please don't hesitate to ask back. Also, as soon as I have connected the line cable, there is a number (9) to the right side of the display that is blinking. Also, the display is brightly illuminated. This doesn't happen when only power is connected but line is unplugged. Any ideas?

Thanks very much. I have two of these devices. One for my Beocom 6000 and one for the Beotalk 1200. I have little doubt that I have made a mistake fitting cables to these two devices. However, what I'm totally uncertain about is, how to connect the Beocom 6000, the Beotalk 1200 and the base station ((RA)DSL station). There is absolutely no hint about that in the manual. I've now connected the Beocom 6000 to the base station, the base station to the wall socket. On top of that, I have also tried to connect the Beotalk 1200 to the base station or directly to the wall socket (next to the connection of the base station). However, in either case, the Beocom 6000 and the Beotalk 1200 are not directly connected. I have no idea, how to do this correctly but suspect that something's wrong here...
I had a quick look at the BeoTalk manual on line and I think that the BeoTalk and Beocom are supposed to be connected in parallel to a single phone socket. For the Danish connected picture in the manual, the line connection from the BeoTalk is plugged into the wall phone socket, and this allows another plug (from the Beocom) to be plugged into it in a sort of piggy-back fashion.
I am not sure of the German phone sockets, but I think you need some sort of adaptor so that the Beocom and BeoTalk can be plugged into the same socket, whether this is directly into the wall or into the DSL. (If the latter, you may simply need an RJ11 two to one adaptor)
I would disconnect your internet DSL modem and try fault finding direct into the wall socket first.
Guy is correct unless you are on voip ? Plug out your dsl and set up phone at main socket and take it from there. Never haven seen a German main telephone socket I do not know if it has two ports~ 1 for phone and 1 for dsl, If you only have one port you will need a dsl filter or you will get a lot of noise.
I went to my dealer today and it's the Beotalk that is defective. Thanks for the help anyway.
