Just got a new Panasonic th65pf30u and was trying to get my BS3 to talk to it via RS232.  I was pretty sure this was the closest model that b&o was using before moving to the BV4  85"  Anyone have any experience or suggestions?  Wouldn't think the codes would change that much over the previous panels.  Maybe I need to update the BS3 software?  Looks like I'm currently 8.12a.   If I can't get it to work over RS232 then is there a way to force the BS3 to send 1080p?  Looks like its sending 720p and the panel is having to do the scaling.

Thanks for any suggestions.

Update:  Solved the 720p/1080p issue.  Nothing specific that I can tell.  Looks like It just took a bit of patience while switching the panel around to different settings,  plugging and unplugging and restarts to get them to reset the resolution.

still no control though.  I'm hoping it is a software issue as the display options on the BS3 only go up to BV4-65 D12

can anyone at least confirm that this the correct series of panels?

WRT the RS232, yes, it is a software issue as Panasonic's commands have not changed at least since the D6 panels a decade ago. B&O have in their wisdom put some detection on the HDMI and if it isn't a panel they recognise, then there will be no output from the Beosystem 3. The only way to resolve this is using a Lintronic box which will send the on/off command to the screen via the serial port.

Just wanted to report back.  Although Frog is correct in the BS3's ability to detect a true B&O panel I've solved my problem by disabling the monitor auto-detect in the customer service menu which then allows you to manually select the appropriate B&O panel and the Panny panel will be then be controlled via appropriate rs232 commands.

Thanks.

Yes, good call. What monitor did you tell the BS3  it was connected to?

Is the auto contrast working for you as well now? Even with RS232 I was unable to get my Panny panel to dim when the room got dark.

Beopaul- I believe that auto contrast is working as I've seen it dim in certain circumstances although it always seemed erratic as with my previous screen.  I think my IR-eye is broken/faulty so I'm still a bit unsure of it working "properly".  However, would that even be controlling the panel or just adjusting the signal internally anyhow?  Not really sure.

Frog-  I have the display set to BV4-65 D12 although it seems to respond to a few of the lesser BV4 screens I selected as well.

One unusual thing I've noticed with my new Panny panel is that although the panel is now being controlled and looks terrific I'm seeing that the BS3 picture positioning (like the geometry adjust in the Customer Service Menu)  seems to not hold it's position.  It very slowly floats a few pixels off center before changing coarse and wandering in a different direction over the course of several minutes.  I can see it because as the picture wanders in one direction it leaves a not-quite-black background at the edges.

if this were my Avant I'd say it's par for the course Stick out tongue but I'm wondering if it's actually some sort of image burn protection with the BS3.

Never saw it with my 50" BV4 though.  Any of you guys know whether this is an actual design feature and (if so) whether there is a way to disable it?

I have got also a Pro Pana panel, but attached to a Beosystem 2. What you described is a Panasonic implemented feature - not  a bug. It is called "Nano Drift" and shall prevent burning-in effects. You can switch that off in the panel settings.
