Hi guys,

since the day (some month ago) I have added the BL4000 as rear speakers to my system, I only listen in speaker 4 mode to music from my BS4 (video of course is speaker 3). For me (I like it loud, I like the booom), 2 x stereo sounds much better with 2 BL9 in front and 2 BL4000 rears than only "simple stereo" with only BL9. Yes of course, every real "audiophil will send me to the home for the aged and deaf. Anyway, I like it ....

But, you know, if you are infected by the B&O virus....So every day I ask myself if it would make sense to replace my MKII BL4000 for a nice pair of BL3 sound wise (style wise not). I have to tell you, the BS4 is conneced via Masterlink to the BV8-40 and both pair of speakers are plugged into to BV8-40.

I only had the possibilty to listen to a pair of BL3 in my living room for a short time and was not that convinced. Maybe because the were not "run in" (my BL9 needed roughly one year, and after the year I would say the sound improuved by 15-20%), or it is the setup. The rear speakers run only by approx. 45-50% (setup in BV8-40), so the BL9 is the dominat speaker.

Do understand me right, I do not want to burn some money, it has to make sense sound wise. A nice pair of demo BL3 for round 2-2.3k and I will sell my like new BL4000 for round 0.9-1k. So I will end up with round 1.3k investment.

Style wise the BL4000 is the best looking speaker ever. Every day I`m pleased by the design. Also sound wise I`m satisfied. But you know, time and some money is a very dangerous combination for men.

Anybody there who has had to them "silly" thoughts and setup?

Take care

I have them both in my livingroom.. BL3 as fronts and BL4000 as rears.

The BL3 has better detail but less bass.

The BL4000 has less details but better bass.

So, if it is bass U are looking for stay with the BL4000.. :)
