Just had a little sneak preview at my dealer. He was installing the system this afternoon. The speakers look better than the pictures presented here. The cables to the satellites were silver and transparent coated, not too thick ...
The covered subwoofer reminded me to a covered object in the R&D department in Struer (BeoWorld trip 2012) just in the northeast corner in the meeting room with all the black covered objects. Could it be that this system had more than a year's development time?

But not on Beoplay .... surely this product in the non-Beovision form should be shown there ???
@Peter the Biker .... I am sure it has been under development for a long time - now what else was under those covers ... did you spot the A9
BeoNut since '75
I think it is a bit strange that the sub has six amplifiers in both editions. I see no reason to pay for an amplifier that never will be used. I guess it is powered on and not used. Not very good design in my opinion. Am I wrong?

Just back from the presentation at our local store
I listened to a remixed track of the eagles "Hotel California": decent resolution, bass as I like it, only the source gave to much to the rear speakers in comparison to other sources. Pop is not my cup of tea. Therefore I couldn't appreciate Robbie Williams and Adele with their concerts ...
My guess for the future: It is a nice looking and nice sounding system for surround movies, if you are not yet equipped with Pentas in front and 4000s as rears, or a pair of penguins or even Daleks in front.

Hello Michael,
yes, you are wrong!
The amps are not 6 single amps, but a 5.1 module.
It would not make sense to make the 14.1.4 as an extra version - would only make things more expensive.
The only difference is the number of the satellites (and probably the cables) in the box.
Greetings Millemissen
This set is definitely not made for those who already have a couple of, BL9, BL3/BL11, Penta's or similar.
It is made for new costumers, and for existing costumers with a seperate tv only - there are lots of B&O tv owners with a BV without external speakers.
These people now have the opportunity to get extraordinary sound for their BV tv's at a very reasonable price.
If you are more into music/stereo listening, the BV14-set won't please you as much as if your main concerns are video.
It will do for music listening for most people, but - if one can afford it and has highquality music as the main source - one should choose the BL3 or the BL9 ( or get some of the last 4000/6002/8002 speaker.
I was really surpriced this evening with what these little beasties (and the sub of cource) can do, when watching video content!
And they look really nice too!
Well done Bang & Olufsen
P.S. It is too late in the evening, so I must wait untill tomorrow to hear the 'Bluray Audio Misserablés Soundtrack' on my own setup ;-(

I just listened to 3 tracks, but only on a low level because my hard working neighbours have to get up early tomorrow. But it sounds like a very decent recording and mixing.
I only entered a few seconds of the final battle. I recommend a bullet proof helmet ...
I am just back from the local promo and its sounds very impressive. I would really need to have it at home to give a 100% opinion but I am impressed !
There are now 3 YouTube videos out there --- no links this time
P.S. How about a sunflower-design for the satelttes covers 🌻

I read it as 6 amplifiers. And it means that one of them is never used with a B&O system so the unit is actually more expensive just to work with non-B&O .
By the way, I like how the speaker grille is mounted the same way the base on the Mac mini is mounted. With three screws that slides onto guides in the grille. I guess you just turn the grille about 10 degrees and it comes loose.
I assume the module is something like this/similar to this:

I think so too but I was referring the Bang & olufsen marketing. Anyway that amplfifier/channel is not being used and I think it is a pity :). A few things I thought about:• They would look really hot in anodized black aluminum and red wine covers.• The system would be a good 2.1 for my bedroom where I don't think I want back speakers (probably not possible without buying four so a bl11 is perhaps a better choice there)• How to connect a non B&O-TV. Is it really necessary to buy a A/V receiver? I have seen quite a lot of speaker bars and other systems that just connects via an optical cable so that the surround sound is sent in one thin cable. I think that would have been the best solution but I think it will need access to separate outputs per speaker. • I wish B&O had made the new RJ45-Powerlink SPDIF ready so that the set could be connected with just one cable on a B&O-set too.
Tjena Michael,
would you please explain what you mean by " the new RJ45-Powerlink SPDIF"?
• They would look really hot in anodized black aluminum and red wine covers.
Yes they would look fantastic, and match my 11-46

You'll always need either a "surround capable" B&O TV with "dedicated sub out" or an A/V receiver to 1) split the signal between sub and satellites2) do the sound management for the satellites 3) set proper delay times = distance settings for sub and satellites
All the sound processing inside the 14 just cares about making these littte things sounding as amazingas they do and to protect them.Connecting the BLb 14 directly to a BeoSound 4/5 ... or a BeoLink Active for 2.1 sound won't work properly - as far as I know there is no internal bass management to split between sub and satellites a la BLb 2/11.
PS: I consider "plain stereo sound - speaker(group) 2" from a linked audio source being remarkably good.
Millemissen: Tjena Michael, would you please explain what you mean by " the new RJ45-Powerlink SPDIF"? Greetings Millemissen
Tjena Millemissen!"• I wish B&O had made the new RJ45-Powerlink SPDIF ready so that the set could be connected with just one cable on a B&O-set too."I meant that it could have been nice if they had an SPDIF output on the new units (V1/BV11 etc). After a good night sleep I realize that it would probably not be a perfect idea anyway since the processing is good in the TV and if it was in the speaker it would not be possible to change the settings (it could probably be done but anyways). So that´s what I meant . Sometimes I just pull an idea apart and try to develop it in different forms.
That is OK, Michael.
The above post from Vienna also explains why it is not possible or wanted.
Have you heard the set?
I have heard it in a room of 50-60 m2 - that was done with much ease.
I am atill surpriced - not bad at all.
Looking forward to hear it a bit more extensive as a 'plain' 2.1 combination with a good stereo audio source!

Havent heard it yet. My favourite retailer closed their business but I just found out today that one of the guys are now working in a completely new store so I am going there for a visit soon and then I´ll listen to it :)

Would it be possible to use it only as a stereo 2+1 system for in iPad, without the need of an external amplifier?
I think B&O is into something good here, first of all the price is "accessible", I bought my Beosound 3000 and BL 4000s in 2002 for the same price.
The design is good and timeless, the small size, the different placement options and the color combinations make it easy to integrate in nearly any environment.
I would like to hear some opinions about the sound in relations "to".
Minuses: Cables, no 2-1 option, but maybe it will come.
Question: Will it be possible to connect the satellites to an amp without the sub, if yes, it would be a good sales argument. One could start out with maybe 2 satellites and later build on with rest. I understand that the sub is the heart of the system and needed to drive the satellites.
Thats what I miss with B&O these days, flexibility, in the past you could by amp, TTs, speakers or what ever, and connect it to whatever you wanted, but since the 90th +, it became more and more difficult. For those of us who have, like, BL 4000, BL 8000 and or older passives it would be nice to only buy and use the sub. FLEXIBILITY.
Collecting Vintage B&O is not a hobby, its a lifestyle.
Nice to hear that the BL14 has triggered some creative thinking amongst the BeoWorlders.
Maybe there will be a 2.1 version some day - one might hope for it.
But you could start out buying the full monty, and leave 2 of the satellites in the box.
Remember this set is a video set. It needs a soundprosessor/preamp, which either is build in to a BV (the surround module), or must be bought seperately/is already there.
Each channel (sub/front/rear) becomes the signal from the soundprocessor/preamp.
This is the reason why you cannot connect it direct to a stereo preamp/BeoSound/Playmaker.
Most people nowadays use the tv/BV as controlunit/heart of their setup, but you can easily use the BL14 for audio/stereo only. This is only a matter of tweaking the sound settings.
I am not sure that a pure BL14 audio version would come cheaper anyway - so go get the BL14 if you like it!
@Søren. These things started as Bang & Olufsen for several different reasons began producing 'active speakers' - the audio and vieomasters then became a lineout connection (PowerLink). Since noone else in the hifi-world took the same route (untill recently) the 'old flexibility' ended!
Millemissen: Maybe there will be a 2.1 version some day - one might hope for it.
He had also asked the support if the Beolab 14 has an internal bass management - or maybe justsome hi pass filter to avoid destruction of the small drivers of the satellites when feeding a "full range"signal.
Answer from B&O support was "Interesting questions, we also don't know those specific design details, we'll try to get informations from DK and we'll answer asap"
My dealer concluded "If you really want immediate answers, drop by at closing time an let's find out if / how a "plain stereo setup" is working. It' needed a RJ45 splitter, 2 RJ45 PL-cables and a change in the TV setup to "no sub" to make this preliminary test. Of course we played just moderate volume levels to avoid any danger a "full range signal"could imply to those tiny drivers - should there be no filtering of low frequencies. The results were quite promising:- there seems to be some kind of filtering to prevent the sub playing higher frequencies- there seems to be some kind of filtering preventing the satellites playing low frequencies- even without sub the satellites are still offering a surprisingly rich sound
