Hi Everyone,
I have just brought a Beolab 1700 amp and tuner along with the beocord 2200 its all in really good condition. All i know about it is that it was found in a loft. The issues seem to be with the amp only. When using it the heat sink gets so hot you cant even touch it, is this normal ? The sound output from both channels seems OK but at times the right channel seems a bit distorted when playing music, when its playing something like classic fm or radio 4 its fine, I have tried swapping speakers and cables. The sound gets really distorted when using the tape input so I am really unsure what is possibly wrong with the amp?
Any help or advice will be greatly appreciated
Sounds like the idle current needs adjusting. Check the service manual on-site how to adjust it, but replace the trim pots before adjusting.
It's likely that some or all caps are busted too.

EDIT: Oh, and you should probably stop using it until adjusted. The output stage will blow sooner or later and that will be a bigger repair job.
Hi, Ive only just dug the beolab & master out again and want to sort it out, does anyone know the best place to get it some new caps to replace the originals that its still got one channel sounds like its blowing bubbles and the heat sink is getting really hot so want to get it up and running again to restore it to its former glory!
Many Thanks
