I've had several LC2s in my lounge for a few years now and successfully programmed them to my desired mood settings.
However, I've now added another LC2 and feel a bit of an idiot as I can't seem to program it despite the fact that I once programmed all the others!
I have the instructions and know that it is necessary to touch the globe when programming a desired light number via my Beo4. BUT, and here's my problem, when I dim the light to my desired level, the fact that I'm touching the globe whilst entering the desired light number, means that during this process the light dims or brightens to a different level than the one I want to store.
What am I doing wrong?
Thanks
You can`t program a single LC2 to a desired light level.
You can program a light scene with one or to nine LC2s in a room.
And you can program link light scenes for the whole house if you have an MCL linksystem and a two way system.
First you must assign every single LC2 to a number. In this process you must touch the black dome of that LC2 you want to program.
Then you can program scenes. Just set every single LC2 to the desired light level (LIGHT-GOTO-X-UP/DOWN or LAMP - X-UP/DOWN
without touching LC2s), and store these levels as a light scene.
Stefan
Hi Stefan and thank you. I am trying to incorporate my new LC2 into my existing ones to incorporate the new LC2 into one of the existing light scenes.
All my existing LC2s have been assigned a number for different light scenes. As an example with my new LC2, I am trying to set a level for this light unit as part of the total light scene assigned to number 7.
I press Light 7 and all the lights come on. I press the new LC2 to a very bright light level by pressing the dome.
Now I follow the programming sequence for the Beo4. LIGHT - LIST - SETUP - GO - LIST - the GO and number 7, the GO. When I switch off the lights and press Light 7 all the my 'old' LC2 settings come on to the previous setting for number 7, but the new one is fairly dimmed, and not bright as I set it before programming via the remote. But I didn't touch the dome during the programming sequence. I only touched it prior to this to set a desired light level for the new one.
In the manual for the LC2 it says "Important! These programmings are all carried out by holding the dark front half dome and simultaneously pressing the sequence of keys on your remote control"
But, as I said in my original post, if I'm pressing the dome whilst programming, the light is dimming or brightening during this process and therefore changes from the setting I want for this particular lamp.

Don't get stuck with that sentence. It only applies to the section it is in, i.e programming lamp numbers and the on/off function.
First, you need to assign each LC2 a LAMP number - an identification - that allows it to be controlled individually. This has nothing to do with light levels (yet). For this, you need to be touching the dome because otherwise you'd be assigning the same number to each controller in the vicinity.
Then, you program the light levels & pictures with the remote alone, not touching any controllers.

Thanks for that, I'm thinking that perhaps either the ''new' LC2 has a programming problem OR I'm still doing it incorrectly!
Currently the connected lamp responds to numbers 1 to 9 on the remote producing various light levels so it must have been programmed at some time by the previous owner or perhaps these are factory defaults.
Here's what I've tried, choosing maximum brightness for the lamp so that I can clearly see if results have been successful. All other lights in the room are off:-
1. Touching the dome until maximum brightness. Keep touching and enter the sequence of key presses to set to number 7.
2. Touch the dome until maximum brightness. Remove hand from dome and enter sequence of key presses to set to number 7.
Switch off lamp with LIGHT then STOP on remote. Press Light 7 but despite having tried the two methods above, this lamp still comes on dim and not maximum brightness, so clearly neither method has worked.
It's driving me nuts!
kokomo:1. Touching the dome until maximum brightness. Keep touching and enter the sequence of key presses to set to number 7.
This (if you did the correct sequence) programs the controller to be LAMP number 7. It does not program any light levels to it.
kokomo:2. Touch the dome until maximum brightness. Remove hand from dome and enter sequence of key presses to set to number 7.
This does nothing.

Assuming you did #1 above correctly, the dimmer now knows it's lamp number 7. Select LAMP from your remote, then 7, then try the up-down arrows. If the brightness changes, all is OK so far.
You must then program the brightness levels for each light picture you want. It's a completely separate step (manual pages 9-11).
Remember: LAMP [number] selects a single LC2 with [number] for control via the remote. LIGHT [number] sets them all to the brightness level you have stored for that particular light picture [number]. Different numbers.
From factory, the controllers are programmed so that light pictures LIGHT 1-9 correspond to 100%-20% brightness, thus you get ~40% brightness with LIGHT-7 until you have programmed something else for that light picture. This is just for convenience.

Right here we go! I assume I did #1 correctly as when I now select LAMP 7 via LIGHT - LIST ( as there's no LAMP button), I can indeed control this lamp up and down via the remote and the others are not on and are unaffected. So I'm there so far!
What I therefore want to do now is incorporate a chosen level for this lamp into my pre-programmed light picture settings for the other LC2s. The new one, when for example I press Light 7, comes on together with the others, but this new one's dimming level is too low. I want to raise its level slightly and incorporate this into light picture 7. But whatever I try, pressing LIGHT 7 brings on my room light picture but this new LC2 always comes on too dim.
Thanks very much for the help I've received.

Almost there now That's the stuff on pages 9-11.
Set all the LC2s you want to have in a particular light picture to the brightness levels you want (by whatever means) and leave the rest off. Then, store this setup into the light picture number you want (7 in this case):
LIGHT - [list until STORE] - GO - 7 - GO
...and that should be it. Thereafter, commanding LIGHT-7 will set those selected controllers to the levels they had when you stored the picture. Those that were off when the store was executed, will remain unaffected.
Note that this light picture 7 is unrelated to the lamp number 7 you stored earlier, you could've chosen any other number for the latter.
Done it!
Here's how, following the instructions above:-
Pressed Light 7 and the room lights came on to my frequently used setting for the evening. The newly connected one came on also (good!) but as I've said previously, at a slightly lower light level than I want it to be when part of the total light picture 7. With the rest of the room lights still on, I pressed the dome on the new LC2 and raised its level then pressed LIGHT - [list until STORE] - GO - 7 - GO. Now all the lights including the new one are at my desired level.
Please note and this is where I was going wrong, I repeat I pressed LIGHT - [list until STORE] - GO - 7 - GO as advised.
Prior to this I was following the booklet instructions (Page 22) to press LIGHT - LIST to display setup, then press GO, then LIST to display STORE then GO - 7 - GO.
The ones suggested LIGHT - [list until STORE] - GO - 7 - GO are on Page 11!
After all this I wouldn't mind but on Page 11 I have highlighted in Green the correct instructions for light picture which are the ones given above.
I knew I must have followed the correct procedure back in time because I'd set up light pictures.
Note to self - light picture settings are on Page 11 NOT 22!!
Thanks a lot to those who have responded.
Great - enjoy your lighting
To complete this, I'll mention that the LAMP number programming is not strictly necessary, if you're never going to use the LAMP command to control individual dimmers. You could just as well set the desired levels by the touch method, then store the light picture as in the post above, and be done with it.

Yes, that's what I've done and how I used to do it, before demensia set in! When you mentioned the LAMP option via LIST I used it as a trial and of course it worked, but I'd always just used the touch method before. Before I forgot it of course!
A big thanks again.
