I acquired a non-functional Beomaster 1900-2 for €30 on the auction site.
No power.
It was easy: the bridge rectifier in the 15V PSU had two shorted diodes. This melted the 2A fuse.
A new rectifier and 2200 μF capacitor restored normal operation, 48 hours of continuous power-on have confirmed this.
Just two bulbs (bass/balance) are going to be changed, the rest is in perfect condition. Ah yes, two ROE caps were cracked, but had correct value and ESR!
The tone/balance transparent films were found in perfect condition.
Idle current spot-on. The amp runs really cool!
Jacques
that's sounds really great, it's a lovely amp, mine had no problems, playing it a couple of weeks now and sounds great, how can you tell it's a 1900-2
It's just written on it!
Also, the selections displays numbers.

I assume you did replace them ?
BTW, What will they do when the surrounded temperture has risen?

Of course, I know my B&O !
I forgot to mention cracked solder joints at the power transistors!
The 1900-2 is a nice receiver. I picked one up for about $60 last year. It had power but the sound was really distorted. In my case I found a number of cracked and leaking ROE spread about so I performed a full recap, new lanps, the bridge plus some new solder at the outputs. and removed the peeled veneer and retrimmed it in white,
One of my favorite pieces.
When I see Ricardos and read about Jacques´s 1900 something starts waking up inside me, I have been checking the bay lately, but prices are too high at the moment. I´m going up to McAllen in June to pick up Rich´s Beocord and a RX and I would like to get something more to play around with.
But then I will have to start selling or give away something, I think give away, then I know where it is and how it is treated. I am looking on a couple of interesting things, missed out on 2 pcs. BM 1900 they went for USD 60.00,
Collecting Vintage B&O is not a hobby, its a lifestyle.

Should not be too hard to find Soren they never seem to demand the attention the 2400 gather when up for a no reserve auction. Lately a lot of overpriced BIN's have been showing up on the "bay". When this happens it tends to stifle a lot of bidding, Seen it before and pretty soon the stuff will just disappear,
The only sets I have "looked at" are the Beocenter 3300's out on the bay. mostly because I woundnt mind getting my hands on a Beomaster 2200 someday, But I just dont have thetime or room or need for another Beocenter.
I have too much stuff as well. I have a beautiful, fully restored BM1900 just sitting in a box.
My current want list is just one item: Beocenter 3500. But I'm hesitant to buy because of the cartridge it requires.
I do have one piece up at Benny's getting restored: Beocord 8004. Can't wait to get that back and compare it to my Nak.
I had my BL5000s sitting in storage for more than two years. At first I didn't have a spare wall... and then in the new flat I procrastinated for a year because it just felt too definite to grab the Hilti and decide the exact location where they will remain for a good while. They weren't forgotten during that time, though
I still have enough stuff stored to furnish half a dozen more rooms, most with AV

Don't be put off by the SPwhatever series. The needle is user replaceable and not too expensive anyway, and the cartridges themselves shouldn't age, so it is relatively safe to buy any old example.
