Hi everybody,
I see that I am not alone in this case ;) I'm a lucky new owner of a BM8000 (and the whole beosystem 8000, unfortunately except speakers (in any case, they were too big for my flat....).
I'm not a B&O specialist, just a young (not so...) vintage audio amateur...
I have to say that I am really impressed by this system (the sound and the design).
The system I bought was not in perfect conditions but works very well. So I will restore it carefully and patiently (with the help of a small hi-fi shop that is close to my home for technical parts).
I just finished the first step (probably the most easy), cleaning the cabinet and every outside parts. You will see on the pictures, outside, everything is perfect (all leds works, aluminum plates shines, the cabinet is OK,…).
But after cleaning everything, I open this “monster”… Whoa… what a surprise for an amateur… So I just take some pictures, clean some small things and close it. I will reopen it with the technician to change the capacitors.
Just a question, do you think that it is a problem if my technician never worked on B&O system before or do you think it is quite similar than other vintage amp (just more compact) ?
I will see if the sound is better after changing the capacitor but I have not a lot of time and unfortunately, I think this step will not be finish before summer (if summer come one day (the weather is very poor here in France now).
I will also try to send a post on my BG 8000 that also have problem but works (my question will be repair it or replace it ;)).
Thank you in advance for all your remarks, comments and help, I saw that this forum is very friendly and give a lot of very important advice.
If you have address, advice, or name of people that you recommend to do the technical part here in Paris or not too far (300km seems to be OK) or even in Brussels where I often go, do not hesitate to send me a message (I am not married with my technician).
Best regards,
Jacques
I don't know how to add more than one picture per post

The precedent owner changes the speakers switch (but there is one channel that doesn't work if I plug it on speakers 1, so I plug it on speaker 2°

one last picture with the whole system (I also have the beolab terminal but it doesn't work... one other issue)
Nice piece of B&O ! If you have a good local technician who is prepared to work on these older systems I am sure you will be ok. There must be specialists near you but failing that there are some on this site in Holland /Denmark which is only a drive away :-0
My word that stand is beautiful.
Sooo... I'm not the only Jacques on the forum now . And with a Beosystem 8000 too!
Welcome!

Thank you, I hope I will find one ;) If it is to have a perfect job, I am ready to drive to Holland (Sorry not Ireland ;)). Denmark in summer is nice but that's too far for me ;)
@chartz : Sorry for being the second Jacques in the forum, but you know, My Grandfather is also called Jacques so in my family everybody call me "little Jacques".
As you were the first Jacques in the forum, I assume you can call me like that .
If you know a good technician in France or Belgium that can work on my BM8000, I am interested !
@Playdry4me : Thank you, I am very happy with this stand and it deserve to work to perfection !
