Hello All,
Having just added to my collection with a BG 5005 to go with my BM 5000, only £38 from e-bay!!! it is a bit rough around the edges and without a stylus. I have managed to get an MMC5 for it (brought a broken 7007 for the MMC5) which i collect tomorrow, I was wondering if anyone can let me know if they know anywhere in the South London / Surrey area that i could take the turntable to to get it serviced as i really want the best out of this beautiful turntable. Also i know its hard to judge but a rough price for a service? Bearing in mind I am doing this on a very tight budget.
I work in Somerset during the week so anywhere in the SW could also work for me.
Thanks for your time and knowledge in advance.

"Bang & Olufsen", "tangential turntable", "service" and "on a tight budget" doesn't always go well together.
The common handrule is:If you paid a nice amount for a working unit, expect it to not need servicing. If you paid a little less for a unit, expect to pay a little to get it working. If you found the unit in a garbage pile on a street corner, expect to pay the price of the working unit to see it working.
Don't get me wrong but;- A specific repair can't be made cheaper because the owner is on a tight budget.- Unless you can do things yourself, servicing costs what servicing costs.
Why is this Beogram "rough" ?Was it thrown or dropped ?
Martin
Thanks for the advice Martin, The Turntable hasnt been droppeed or damaged i think (with my very limited experience in all things B&O) it needs a good clean, the top of the unit is a bit scratched. I put a very old record on and powered it up the arm seemed to track across fine, there was a red light on the end of the Tonearm. I noticed that there was a scrapping sound when it got to the last part of the record. I have looked at some old posts on the Forum for some advice so hopefully once I put the Stylus on and test it at the weekend I will have some more of an idea.
