I've been told there will be a new (beolab 8000) with alt tweeter on top is this correct?

Seems strange as the ALT should be at ear level. A column speaker as high as a 8000 is too high if you want to put a lens on top, but a totally new column, as high as a 9, could be good.

I hope they are. That would be just the speaker I have been hoping for.

What's been announced by the CEO recently is that now that a lot of "low end" (beoplay, beolab 14) products have been released, a lot of new high end products will come.

I would certainly hope it would be a new design. High end is certainly not the area where BL8000 needed help.

I have been wanting to upgrade the 4000s I use as rears with my 9s. I have been undecided between 8002s for the design or 3s/12s to have ALT all around. I have often though 8002s with ALT would be perfect.

Was a timetable mentioned for these new products?  Were any comments made about what type of products will be coming?

"I've been with the company for two years now and we've worked a lot on the product side," Mantoni confirms. "A lot of attention has gone into BeoPlay in the last two years… but really with Bang & Olufsen as the mother brand you will see a very strong new product line-up in the next 12 months."

The full interview is discussed in this thread.

On this forum, the possibility of a new Beosystem 4 based on the Beovision 11 chassis has been talked about. That would mean that the whole range of BV would be moved to the new digital masterlink.

I think on the audio side (which is all I care about), one need only look at recent product departures to get a rough idea of what "holes" are going to be filled into the product line. I don't think BL5 will be superseded, if and when it does go, but rather the reverse... I think ALT is going to make its way DOWN instead (as Razlaw is hoping). Possibly to the products in line to replace the 4000, 6000 and eventually the 8000. In fact, if I am not mistaken the BL8002 is now the last if not one of the last "x000" products left. Lab 9 and Lab 3 are probably sticking around unchanged for a while.

All these speakers have been core business for years, and it would be bonkers to think that Tue would not have these iconic products replaced.

This next 12 months might in the future been seen as a golden period of launching not only new products, but the opening up to new markets and age demographics etc.Yes - thumbs up

Beosound Stage, Beovision 8-40, Beolit 20, Beosound Explore.
