Hi,
I use C40, old passive B&O speakers, powered by a passive link amp. as surround speakers in my set-up. I'm thinking about replacing them with a pair of Beolab 14 satellites. I was quoted 1.280 Euro for a pair by my dealer in Stockholm. I really like the design of BL 14, I'm temped to get a pair. What would you do?

That is far to much imo - should cost half that much.
The difference between a 4.1 and a 5.1 system in DK is round about 2500 DKK, and there is a cable included, as far as I know.
That would as the highest price be: 2x2500 DKK, which is 670€ for the two of them.
Which is far too much for those speakers!!! You could easily get a pair of used BL4's for less.
Greetings Millemissen
There is a tv - and there is a BV

But the price I got is for a pair. The difference of 650 EURO between 4.1 and 5.1 is only for one satellite.
WOAH, you are the quick guys - posting while I was editing
See my (now) edited post!
Grrr! Millemissen

Hi
Does it mean we could buy the subwoofer only ?
What should be the price for it alone ?

4 beolab 5, beolab 9, beolab 10, beolab 5000, beolab 8000 mk2, beolab 6002, beolab 3500, beovision 7 55 mk2, 2 beovision 11 46 mk4, beotime, beosound ouverture, beosound essence, beoplay A8, beomaster 900 RG de luxe and the collection continues...
Sorry Millemissen :-)
I agree it sounds quite expensive. I will definitely contact several stores before buying.
Ok, I've edited my post... Seems expensive. For that price, you may find a pair of second hand BL8000, a bit old but working.
I still think that is mortifyingly expensive for a pair of passive, 1-way satellite speakers! What about a nice set of refoamed CX50s for about €200? Or ditch the passive amp and get a pair of BL4s or 4ks?
BL14 satellites are so bad that people advises to get Beolab 4? I thought that they would be at least equal acoustically, as BL4 were disapointing...
Officially you can't buy the sat's or the sub solo - only the whole set.
If the dealer does sell, it is his choice!
If he sells two 5.1 set to a costumer, who just want the 4.1 set's, he indeed has 2 sat's for sale afterwards.
It would be nice to know how different dealers handle this!
"BL14 satellites are so bad that people advises to get Beolab 4?"
No, they are not 'bad' - but they are made for/optimized for the amp integrated the BL14-sub, and I doubt that they would be that special without that amp.
Again - it would be nice to hear from people, who actually tried driving them with another amp.
bl4 and bl14 satellites can't be compared as the last ones don't have any amps built inside.
That's why at this price it could be more interesting to buy bl4.
The bl4 are bad speakers for me.Maybe for rear speakers only or pc sound.
Like the "fat" cat says, it would be nice to hear the results of these satellites with another amp :)
If someone need only satelites bl14 speakers please let me know, because I am only interested by the subwoofer.
