Hello, new member here..
Just purchased a 3404 turntable to go with my 2400 receiver.
Don't seem to be able to get the remote control function of the turntable to operate.
When I press "P" on the Beomaster receiver remote, it just turns on the receiver but does not start the turntable...
Any ideas?
Thanks!
Steve
I don't think the BM2400 support datalink.
//Bo.A long list...
Thanks for your reply, however I owned the same system back in the 80's and the turntable was activated with the receiver remote.
Also, the product info states the same..
Anyone else?
I am not sure but I think the BG 3404 was not compatible with this remote control operating feature.
Look what the reference says:
"In the case of the Beomaster 2400 this meant that the record player could be started, stopped and paused using the “PH” control, either on the Beomaster itself or on the Beomaster Control Module remote control unit. For this to work a specially prepared Beogram was required, initially the Beogram 4004 and latterly the Beogram 2400 and 2402 as well. "
Vintage Bang & Olufsen
I marked the above response as "suggested" vs. "verified" for now.
I can't for the life of me recall which was/wasn't compatible, but I believe the response is close until confirmation.
Having both the 2402 and 3404, I *believe* the 3404 is indeed NOT compatible...
If I do not hit the Whisky too hard, I will try both this evening and let you know.
That's strange... I owned the same system back in the 80's and the turntable was activated with the receiver remote.
sstarnes:the turntable was activated
You may well be correct -I can't remember. I just know that there was some incompatibility in that BG "family."
I will repost later.
ɓʋɾɑɳɫɘɮ:I will repost later.
According to B&o of that period, you are correct. The 3404 IS compatible!
Thanks,
guess I'll need to look at the DIN cable to make sure it's not the cause....
Outside of that, I don't have a clue..
Does it have a 7 pin DIN plug? The 3404 should work. If it is playing, does it stop when you press the stand by on the remote?

And is your remote OK, the BM 2400 is known for bad caps in the remote receiver.
Collecting Vintage B&O is not a hobby, its a lifestyle.
Hmmmmm......
Pulled the 3404 DIN plug out of the 2400 and inspected:
The socket in the 2400 has holes for 7 pins
The 3404 DIN plug has only 5 pins, but what looks like holes where there were 2 other pins (on the bottom sides of each end of the plug)
Does not look to be broken off, almost like they were unscrewed or something.....????????
Right, you have a 7 pin DIN plug, pin 6 and 7 are removable, (screwed in), and the pins are missing, nearly impossible to get, Best solution is to buy a new 7 pin DIN plug and solder the wires as they were in the old plug.
I have spare pins - that is the problem. I have a 2400 - 3404 combo and it works off remote but mine has all 7 pins.
I can send you a couple pins
Here is bliss
Ricardo,
Yes, please send me the pins and costs associated...
Are these the pins that you screw in to the plug as mentioned by Soren Mexico above?

Yes, and unlike the later Datalink control, you need both pins for the 3404.

Yes they are the correct pins for your turntable - all I need is a mailing address. No cost involved.
Thanks Ricardo!
Email sent...........
If you're ever in Austin maybe for F1 at COTA, I will get the first round,..
Here is the set I put together in a 1959 rosewood wall unit that my wife's parents gave us... (they are Danish)
The 2200 speakers are really great sounding! They are in teak though - Would like to trade for rosewood pair -

Lots of space in the wall unit for more B&O, go looking for S45-2s in rosewood
Steve your pins are in the mail !

I agree but make sure you to get the original 3 way speaker as opposed to the later two way design. Right now I have my 2400 plugged into a set of S-75. May be a bit of overkill but I LIKE IT.

Richard, you are agitating my virus with these S-75s, I´ll set search for them or you sell me a pair of yours, your stands are nearly finished and I will be in McAllen within the next 2 weeks.
Received and installed the DIN pins.
The remote function works as it should.
Thanks again for your assistance with this as Steve at Sounds Heavenly advised the pins were no longer available!
I am on the look for for a matching cassette player in like condition..
