Hi all,

Can anyone tell me whether it's possible to get replacement surrounds for the drivers in the Beovox 1500?

Cheers

There are several sellers on E-bay and Simply speakers, Parts Express and others also sells surrounds. Google it

Measure speaker and old surround, and get the new surround as close as possible

The Beovox 1500 uses an oval woofer and no foam surrounds.
I never saw the need for refoaming anything in this model but that doesn' t mean that it couldn't happen.
Or is it the midrange driver ?

Thanks for the replies - I've got my eye on a pair but before going for them I wanted to know if there are any problematic issues! They seem to be a fairly rare speaker (from what I've read) and I can't find a lot of info about them.

@ Søren Mexico - thanks, it was the fact that the woofer was oval that was worrying me. I've refoamed a few pairs of speakers but all were round surrounds.

@ Dillen - I'm a bit naïve on the oval woofers Big Smile are they constructed in a different way? I assumed that given the age there would have been some deterioration?

Yes, the Beovox 1500 is not a very common speaker.
The oval woofer surround is doped paper.
Its treatment keeps it from drying out and it's very rare to see them fall apart (unlike f.e. the Beomaster 900K
ones that are not treated).
The Beovox 1500 woofers occasionally lets go where the surround meets the metal basket but it's rare
to see and quite easy to fix.

It's not a very powerful speaker but the sound is, being a three-way type, actually very pleasant and detailed.
A very good review by Steve can be found in the product guide on our

I learn everyday on this forum, did not know that the woofer is oval, if you buy them, please post pics.

Update - well I bid on these on eBay but they've been pulled as the item has been "lost or broken"! Never mind there's always the next pair!
