I'm sure you're all as keen as me to get down your local B&O store and buy these winning BS8 covers...

I presume that Stevie Wonder judged this one?!
Ray Charles...you'd have to be both blind and dead I think.

I'm afraid I'm recovering from the BeoVirus.

@ Mika...
Funniest. Post. Evar.
And... yes! That design is horrid. I find nothing, zip, nada -appealing about it whatsoever!
Oh dear..
I'm sure it says or 'communicates' something.
However, this could be said about monkeys throwing poop at each other...

Someone placed a comment on the B&O Facebook page where they said that they are so bad that they actually discredit the B&O brand (ie. the fact that the design was the "winner" perhaps could give non-B&O users the impression that B&O can't pick out a worthy design, even though Facebook users voted).
There were some really genuinely worthy covers posted in the contest. I could pick out four or five I'd have seriously considered purchasing. The winner? No chance.
Seriously?
BeoLab 5, BeoVision 7-55 MK2, BeoSound 5 Encore, BeoSound 9000, BeoLab Penta III, BeoLab 8000, BeoLab 6000, BeoLab 2, BeoLab 7-6, BeoSound 8, BeoTime (analog clock), Beo 4 remote.
This pretty much sums it up... Could not have made the following up if I tried.
You need to be aware of certain internet phenomena to understand the idea.
Still doesn't make it work for me, though.
tournedos: You need to be aware of certain internet phenomena to understand the idea.
True. I note someone replied with "I like it, it is not to the old school B&O people, but to the yong crowd, like my self, its a new theme! 2tally awesome. NOT SMART AND BRANDY, BUT COOOOOOL!"
God help us.
Nevertheless, a worthwhile exercise - just think how many new customers will buy the BS8 with these new frets! I 'll bet all the people who voted for it will buy one.
Never ask the public what they like - you always end up with an average answer that no one actually likes and no one will buy - a bit like governments really!
Ban boring signatures!
If you are willing to take these covers...you get a 15% discount on a brand-new Beosound 8 using their Facebook promotion ;-)
I assume, B&O won't check, whether you use the cover or store it in the darkest corner of your cellar.
Actually, that's a decent offer. You can pick up a BS8 for only £760, including free shipping, rather than £899.
Sorry, guys, but I LOVE it! Then again, look at the M70 in my avatar, so what do I know?
And yes, Mika, that was: The. Best. Post. EVAR.
I do wonder if any forums members recognize themselves amongst the faces

Am I missing something? In America April Fools' day is not until Sunday...
Pretty sure when you buy the discounted bs8 you get these as an additional pair thrown in, presumably to put on the thing when you have the neighbours kids round or your mother-in-law etc. I thought a picture of a pair of pert bosoms, one on each speaker, would have been pretty nice but there you go.
B&O are trying to offload the non-airwave bs8's and if I was a franchised Dealer I would be mightily concerned at products such as the Beolit 12 and Beosound 8 being sold online, good for the consumer though.......

Lots of developers sell direct to the consumer these days, often discounted. In my business, software developers often organise direct-to-customer deals form their website. If they can sell more product direct, with a better margin, then they will.
Besides, there are a lot of people under 40 who won't go in a a B&O retail store and B&O believe they are missing out on this custom if they do not sell online. Also, a lot of people under 40 purchase everything online these days. One of my mates never visits a supermarket. They buy every item online!
Mind you, with the A8 (BS8 with AirPlay) coming in at just under £1000, I think that this will border on being too pricey for their target audience.
Whatever would David Lewis think ?
If this is the future direction of b&o , count me out.
